The access into the heart of the Three Valleys is quick. In less than 15 minutes, you can be at the top of the Tougnete ridge with a blue to take you to Les Menuires in one direction, and a choice of blue, red or black runs leading to Méribel. To reach the ridge, take the high-speed 8-person gondola from the village centre, then the St Martin Express chair.

Above the village, you'll find lightly wooded slopes which contrast with the skiing above the tree-line that you'll find in higher parts of the Three Valleys such as Val Thorens.

Beginners

Saint Martin de Belleville has three free lifts in the centre of the village with gentle blue slopes to practice on. At the top of the Tougnete ridge, you can ski a long confidence-building blue that becomes a green as it heads to Les Menuires, where you'll find a range of green and blue runs for progression. .

Intermediates

Intermediates will find plenty to enjoy with easy access from Saint Martin at the top of the ridge to beautiful blues and reds such as the rolling contours of the Choucas run, and the long Jerusalem run with stunning panoramas.

The Three Valleys area offers plenty of variety and its surprisingly easy as an intermediate to ski across different valleys in a ski day. If you want to put the miles in, it's do-able to head to Méribel in the morning, stop of coffee in Courchevel then ski over to Les Menuires and Val Thorens for the afternoon. As a bonus, staying in Saint Martin de Belleville means you get to experience routes like the long descents down to the village as part of your ski day every day.

Advanced

Advanced skiers will find extensive options across the Three Valleys.

From the Tougnete ridge, you can take the black Ecureuil run towards Méribel and easily access the challenging blacks and reds above Courchevel from the Col de Chanrossa. In the other direction, the skiing over to Orelle from the Cime Caron is under-explored and well worth a visit.

Mountain Fun Zones

Nearby Les Menuires has a strong freestyle and fun offering, including snowparks, two boardercross areas (one blue, one red) and themed zones that cater to a wide range of abilities. It's easy to get to Les Menuires from Saint Martin de Belleville via the Tougnete ridge.

Nordic skiing

There are 28km of cross-country trails along the valley floor. These offer a quieter alternative to downhill skiing, with scenic routes linking nearby villages. Starting from the Plan d’Eau in Les Menuires, you can head along the Doron river towards Saint Martin de Belleville.

Wellness activities

Saint Martin's la Belle Vie wellness centre has an indoor pool with huge windows overlooking the mountains. There are massage jets, relaxing areas and waterfall features. It's in a beautiful setting with amazing views. It also has saunas with a view, a steam room and cold plunge pool.

Experiences on the snow

On snow experiences aren't just for those who enjoy downhill skiing, Saint Martin de Belleville offers a range of options for those who want to take an afternoon off their skis or who don't ski.

Dog-sledding is a magical experience; sit back as a musher drives your sled through immaculate snowscapes. Snowshoeing excursions are another way to immerse yourself in nature and snowy landscapes. Going with a guide helps you understand the environment you're walking through, on walks we've done, we've learnt about animal tracks, foraging and more. In Saint Martin de Belleville, you can book a guided evening snowshoe walk for a different perspective of the mountain under the stars.

Gastronomy

Saint Martin de Belleville has a host of local producers who create delicious local specialities. Take time to visit the Brava Vela microbrewery to try the local craft beer and pick up souvenirs or try the goat's milk cheese from local producer, Au délice des fromages,

Visit the Martin family farm, La Trantsa, for a taste of some of their sublime goat’s cheese, find out more about how it’s made and bring back cheese, yoghurts and even wildflower syrups.

Restaurants and mountain dining

Just above Saint Martin, we loved Les Corbeleys, a cosy mountain restaurant with traditional fayre, including tartiflette (of course) and enormous éclairs for dessert! Also on our radar is the Maya Altitude, with its décor inspired by the Himalayas and Tibet, and focus on cooking techniques including charcoal grilling and roasting in a tandoor oven.

Across the ski area there is a good selection of restaurants, on the mountain. From casual lunches to more traditional Savoyard dining, there’s plenty of choice.

A Michelin-starred family

Father and son team, René and Maxime Meilleur, run La Bouitte a hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant in the hamlet of Saint Marcel, just outside Saint Martin. They use local produce from their own gardens and create beautiful seasonal dishes.

They launched a more accessible version of their cuisine in the form of the brasserie Simple et Meilleur (we love the play on words with their surname). The brasserie is by the slopes and the Caseblanche apartments and chalets. Alongside traditional options such as fondue and raclette, you can enjoy cheese and charcuterie platters. They also bake and sell their own bread and patisseries, and have a delicatessen on site, making it a great spot for those self-catering too.

Après-ski and evenings

Après-ski is relaxed with a focus on meals out and quiet bars, Saint Martin de Belleville offers a good choice of both.

Saint Martin de Belleville has everything you'll need for a holiday stay with a well-stocked mini-market. If you're driving up, then stopping in the valley in a supermarket to stock up on groceries will offer you a wider choice.
