Frequently asked questions about Orelle (Val Thorens)

Why choose accommodation in Orelle for a ski holiday? plus icon minus icon

Orelle offers excellent value compared to many resorts within the 3 Valleys. Guests benefit from modern lift access into one of the world's largest ski areas while staying in a smaller quieter setting. It is particularly popular with keen skiers who want extensive terrain without paying premium resort prices.

What types of accommodation are available in Orelle? plus icon minus icon

Our accommodation in Orelle consists of simple self-catered apartments as well as a new generation hostel offering private double, triple or family rooms for four, as well as dormitory rooms for six that can be privatised. Both would be suitable for couples, families and groups who aren't looking for luxury and prioritise skiing access over resort ambiance.

How close is accommodation in Orelle to the ski lifts? plus icon minus icon

To get to the slopes you'll take the high-capacity Orelle gondola that links directly to the Val Thorens slopes. The new generation EviHob hostel is just 50m from the lifts, other accommodation may be more spread out with access requiring a shuttle bus service.

Is ski-in/ski-out accommodation available in Orelle? plus icon minus icon

Orelle is not generally considered a ski-in/ski-out destination. Guests access the ski area using the gondola system, which provides fast connections into the higher slopes. At the end of the day, skiers return to the village via the gondola rather than skiing directly back to accommodation.

What should I know about the gondola connection from Orelle? plus icon minus icon

The gondola connection is one of Orelle's biggest advantages, providing direct access to Val Thorens and the wider 3 Valleys in around 10 minutes. Guests should be aware that the final return lift time is important, particularly when spending the day skiing elsewhere in the ski area. Planning ahead helps ensure a smooth return to the village and will avoid an expensive taxi!
