Mont Blanc & Chamonix Valley
Unique, varied terrain with Mont Blanc as a stunning backdrop is common to all the resorts. For unbeatable skiing, Megève with its 400km of pistes in the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area, will delight and challenge skiers, whatever their ability. Beginners and intermediates will find the region heaven for learning and improving in a safe and uncrowded environment. Other resorts in the Evasion Mont Blanc include St Gervais, St Nicolas de Veroce with its 5* hotel 'Armancette', Les Contamines with its underrated ski area (all the locals go here!) and Combloux with the most fantastic views of Mont Blanc.
In the heart of the French Alps and close to Mont Blanc, the Val d'Arly is still a well-kept secret despite being one of the oldest tourist centres in Savoie. Attracted by stunning scenery, charming traditional villages and the warmth and friendliness of its inhabitants, discerning travellers have made this area their ideal alpine getaway. You can find the resort of Notre Dame de Bellecombe here with its pretty church as a centrepiece. It is lift linked to Les Saisies, forming part of the Espace Diamant ski area.
Within the Chamonix Valley, which has the famous Chamonix at the forefront, you will also find Les Houches and Vallorcine, not far away. Les Houches has plenty of tree-lined skiing pistes which are great for bad weather. Vallorcine offers lots for the more experienced skier and Chamonix has various mountain areas to ski on, with the Glacier as the backdrop.
Areches Beaufort is your typical French mountain resort, offering skiing in Areches and Beaufort, which is famous for Beaufort cheese! Just 20km from the town of Albertville, is most definitely a 'hidden gem'.
