We're happy to take our time helping you find the right holiday for you. Whether you want to head to the mountains in winter for skiing, snowboarding and winter experiences, or you want to discover the beauty of the mountains in summer when crisp fresh air, cool nights, sunny days and a whole host of activities are on the menu. You’ll be able to speak to a real person who can guide you through everything you’ll need.
We have experience of all our resorts from off-the-beaten track gems and traditional villages, you’ll want to keep to yourself, to the huge winter playgrounds for which the French Alps is renowned.
In September 2025, we made the move to employee ownership, making us the only UK ski company to be employee-owned. This puts our passionate, experienced and dedicated team at the heart of the business, allowing them to develop, innovate and evolve the company going forward, with a real stake in its future.
We were voted Best Ski Operator in the Telegraph Travel Awards 2025, 2023 and 2019.
Peak Retreats was set up in 2002 by two French Anglophiles
Our founders, Nathalie and Xavier were passionate skiers who wanted to bring the traditional lesser-known French Alps resorts they loved to UK holidaymakers. The story goes that they were so surprised when the first call they took was someone who wanted to book, that they had to note the details down on the back of a pizza box!
Peak Retreats grew, as our clients' families grew, to encompass larger, big name resorts and in winter, we now feature over 70 resorts, from our original hidden gems to world-class destinations. We took the next step on our journey by becoming employee-owned in September 2025.
With an excellent network of local contacts, French savoir faire and British sensibilities, and now an employee-owned philosophy, we can offer the best of the French Alps.
We handpick the properties we feature, and our team regularly visits our resorts, which allows us to offer recommendations based on first-hand experience.
We have been members of ABTA from the beginning as we understand the importance of reassurance and peace of mind when booking a holiday.

Peak Retreats is thrilled to have won Best Ski Operator in the Telegraph Travel Awards in 2025. We were also awarded Best Ski Company in the Telegraph Travel Awards in 2023 and 2019. In 2018 we were awarded the very special The Times Travel Editor's Award in the The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sunday Times Travel Magazine Awards. In 2019, we were awarded one of the first Family Traveller Excellence Awards, and in 2018 we won Best Family Ski Operator in the Family Traveller Awards, an award which we also won in 2015.
We are honoured to have been named Best Ski Company in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014 at The Guardian and Observer Travel Awards, as chosen by readers of the Guardian and Observer.
We were voted Best Independent Ski Operator 2006 and Best Tour Operator to France 2005 by Maison de la France (now Atout France), the French Tourist Office.

Family Traveller Excellence Award 2019
Peak Retreats won one of the first Family Traveller Excellence Awards in November 2019 for our Winning at Winter Challenge. The winners were selected by a readers' vote and a judging panel that included children.included children for the first time.
Best Family Ski Operator 2018
Peak Retreats was named Best Family Ski Operator as voted for by readers in November 2018 at the Family Traveller Awards.
Winner - The Times Travel Editor's Award 2018
Peak Retreats was presented with this very special award in September 2018. The Times Travel Editor, Jane Knight, summed up Peak Retreats as 'a great ski company with charismatic villages and a slice of rural France.'

Peak Retreats won this award given by the French Tourist Office.
Best Tour Operator 2005
Peak Retreats was chosen as the Best Tour Operator to France in the world by Maison de la France, the French National Tourist Office (now Atout France). The award was presented by French Minister for Tourism, Leon Bertrand and Maison de la France Director General, Thierry Baudier at the MIT International Trade show in Paris in October 2005.
