Beginners

Plagne 1800 is a good base for beginners, with a small local nursery area, including a couple of green runs, and access to larger beginner zones in nearby Plagne Centre.

Across La Plagne, designated beginner zones make learning accessible. The ability to progress onto gentle blue runs quite quickly is a key strength of the area.

Intermediates

Around 80% of La Plagne’s slopes are blue and red, making it ideal for intermediates. Wide, open pistes in the main bowl allow for long cruising runs, while routes extend into forested sectors below Plagne 1800 in Plagne Montalbert for more varied terrain.

A couple of lifts take you to the top of the long blue Edmond Blanchoz run, that joins Pravendue to take you all the way down to 1350m. There are also a couple of blues that morph into nice reds off the top of the Roche lift just below the village in Plagne 1800.

Runs like Mont de La Guerre, which is easily accessible from nearby Plagne Centre via the Lovatière lift and a short blue piste, offer long descents with significant vertical, and allow you to explore different sectors of the ski area. The Mont de la Guerre run takes you all the way down to Champagny-en-Vanoise.

Advanced

Advanced skiers will find plenty to challenge them, particularly on the Bellecôte Glacier. Steep black runs like Rochu and Bellecôte, along with mogul fields and off-piste terrain, provide serious variety.

There are also challenging areas around Aime La Plagne, with fast and technical descents. The black run, Crête Côte, is just off the top of the Plagne 1800 lift. Off-piste is extensive but requires a guide for safety and the best experience.

Mountain fun zones

Paradiski offers multiple snowparks, boardercross courses and freestyle areas across La Plagne, Montchavin and Champagny. These add variety for all levels, from beginner features to more advanced jumps and rails. Just above Plagne Centre, there is the fun Buffalo Park slope, which is at the top of the Colorado lift.

Nordic skiing

There are over 80km of cross-country trails in La Plagne and more across Paradiski. Routes range from gentle circuits to longer scenic tracks through forests and valleys. Some of the most scenice of these are in Champagny-le-Haut, just above Champagny-en-Vanoise and at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park.

Unique experiences

One of the standout attractions is the Olympic bobsleigh track just below Plagne 1800. You can experience a high-speed ride on the actual track used in the 1992 Winter Olympics in different ways; as a solo ride, with a driver and three passengers, or in a driverless four-man bob. You can reach speeds of up to 100km/h.

Another unique activity available in La Plagne is Aerolive. This world-first allows you to ride in a cable car with no sides. You are attached to the cabin with a harness and able to lean out and enjoy the feeling of gliding through the air up to 3000m altitude and the highest point in the ski area. It’s an unforgettable sensation (and one our team has tested and can thoroughly recommend).

Outdoor adventures

Between Plagne Centre and Aime 2000, there is a 600m zipline with amazing views and a guaranteed adrenaline rush! You can also try electric fat biking on snow from Plagne 1800, either after the pistes close or before they open (with either breakfast or an aperitif as part of the experience depending on the time you choose!). Skidoo rides and other high-energy activities are available across the wider resort.

Family-friendly fun

Families are well catered for with sledging areas, including long toboggan runs like Colorado Park, which is just above Plagne Centre.

There are also plenty of easy-access activities across the villages, making it simple to combine skiing with other experiences during your stay.

The village has a small selection of restaurants offering traditional alpine dishes and relaxed dining.

The atmosphere is cosy and informal, ideal for quiet evenings close to your accommodation.

Plagne 1800 has basic amenities for all the essentials, including a mini-market, sports shops and tourist office. For a wider choice, Plagne Centre offers a larger range of restaurants, shops and services. Across La Plagne and Paradiski, there are dozens of mountain restaurants, providing varied dining on the slopes.

Après-ski and nightlife

Après in Plagne 1800 is low-key, with a calm and relaxed feel. For livelier evenings, you can easily head up to Plagne Centre.
