Mountain Coasters (Summer Luge)

Mountain coasters (or luge/sledge/toboggan) are where you can control your own sled on rails at your own pace. This is done by managing the braking yourself, therefore controlling your speed in complete safety. Eight of our resorts that we feature in Summer offer this fun-filled activity, suitable for children and adults!

1. La Rosiere - "X-Treme Luge"

  • 4-season downhill coaster,
  • 700m single-rail sledge,
  • Slope breaks, a footbridge, a spin, at a speed of up to 45km/h. The ascent is by sled, through the woods,
  • For children between 95cm and 125cm, mandatory accompaniment of an adult but the child goes free,
  • The departure of the sledge is located at the resort entrance parking lot next to the roundabout,
  • Photo opportunity on the coaster, collect your souvenir photo at the finish (pay locally).

2. Les Carroz d’Araches - "Speed Dragoz" (take the car or bus from nearby Samoens)

  • 4-season downhill coaster taking 4 minutes on average,
  • Starting with a 350m climb from the Carroz gondola departure platform before a 850m run,
  • Descent punctuated with banked turns, rollers and flip-flops through the Kedeuze forest,
  • Optional Virtual Reality headset: combining reality and virtual reality during the downhill run in the form of a 360-degree 3D film for total immersion in a virtual universe and heightened sensations,
  • The minimum height is 1.05m (approx. 3 yrs old) and all children under the height of 1.25m (approx. 8-9 yrs old) must be accompanied by an adult,
  • Photo opportunity on the coaster, collect your souvenir photo at the finish (pay locally).

  • Once you reach the top on La Crusaz chairlift, make your way down the tracks of the winding Pleney slopes,
  • It’s entirely up to you to enjoy the speedy dash or leisurely ride down the hill by merely taking control of the sledge brakes,
  • Younger children can go in the sledge with a parent, whilst older children can race each other side by side!
