Beginners

Tignes Le Lac is an excellent base for beginners, like much of Tignes, thanks to the ski area's well-structured Ski Start progression zones. Free lifts and magic carpets make it easy to begin learning without needing a full pass.

Once confident, beginners can quickly move onto gentle blue runs and even experience high-altitude skiing on wide, accessible slopes. This progression is one of the resort’s biggest strengths.

Intermediates

Intermediate skiers will find outstanding variety. The Tignes Val d'Isère area offers an extensive network of blue and red runs, perfect for long cruising days.

From Le Lac, you can easily access multiple sectors, including glacier skiing on the Grande Motte. The lift system is fast and efficient, allowing you to explore widely and avoid repeating routes.

Advanced

Advanced skiers are extremely well catered for. The area offers steep black runs, demanding descents and extensive off-piste terrain.

Naturide runs provide ungroomed conditions, while iconic descents such as Vallon de la Sache offer long, challenging vertical drops. The glacier terrain adds further appeal for experienced skiers.

Mountain fun zones

Tignes Le Lac features a variety of fun zones including boardercross, parallel slalom and playful runs. These are designed for all levels and are particularly popular with families and younger skiers.

Nordic skiing

There are around 44km of cross-country trails across the area, including flat, scenic routes near the lake. These provide a peaceful alternative to alpine skiing.

Outdoor adventure and unique experiences

Tignes Le Lac is a hub for activities, from e-mountain biking to paragliding. Many experiences can be accessed easily from the Tignes le Lac itself.

The high mountain setting adds a dramatic backdrop to everything, making even simple activities feel special.

Fun for families and groups

There are plenty of family-friendly activities including sledging, snowtubing and fun zones. By the frozen lake, Aventure Park offers an aerial assault course of nets, rope bridges and zip wires.

For a special experience, we can arrange an evening in a yurt. Snowshoe or walk to an authentic Mongolian yurt, enjoy a traditional Savoyard meal then sledge back down

A Snake Gliss experience also takes place in Tignes le Lac. Ride on a train of connected sledges driven by an instructor.

Leisure and indoor facilities

The Le Lagon aquatic centre in Tignes le Lac is a major highlight, offering pools, spa facilities and fitness areas. As well as a pool with lanes for swimming, there's a fun pool with a waterslide, toadstool fountain and more.

Tignes le Lac also has the Tignespace sports centre, which offers trampolining, volleyvall courts, racket sports and a climbing wall and even an indoor skate park, ensuring there’s plenty to do off the slopes.

Dining options

Tignes Le Lac has a wide selection of restaurants, from casual options to high-altitude dining. You’ll find traditional Savoyard cuisine, international dishes and everything in between. Our team loved our lunch on the terrace at the Escale Blanc overlooking the snow front. They handed out sombreros to keep the sun off skiers' faces as it was so sunny!

Mountain restaurants are also a highlight, including high-altitude venues with panoramic views.

Après-ski and nightlife

Après-ski is a major draw. Le Lac is one of the main social hubs in Tignes, with bars and terraces filling up in the afternoon. There is also easy access to the famous Folie Douce in the wider area (it's on the slopes on the Val d'Isère side of the ski area).

For those looking to continue into the evening, there are clubs and late-night venues.

Shops and essentials

The resort as a whole offers over 200 shops and services, including supermarkets, bakeries, equipment shops and more. Tignes le Lac has a choice of mini-market, ski shops and more.

Everything is easily accessible, making it a convenient base for both short stays and longer holidays.
