Beginners

Plagne Centre is one of the best places in La Plagne to learn. The main beginner zone is located right in the centre of the resort, making it incredibly accessible.

There is a well-designed learning area with a drag lift, a snow garden for children and a long green run served by its own slow chairlift. This makes progression smooth and confidence-building.

With a few free lifts across the wider area, beginners can practise without committing to a full lift pass straight away.

Intermediates

Intermediates will love the variety accessible from Plagne Centre. With around 80% of slopes across the La Plagne ski area rated blue or red, the area is ideal for cruising.

From the central lifts, you can explore wider pistes in the main bowl or venture further afield to explore longer routes across the wider resort. Runs like the red Mont de La Guerre, which takes you down to Champagny-en-Vanoise and is accessed via a blue from the top of the Lovatière lift in the village centre, offer long descents and impressive verticals.

Although it looks like the other side of the ski area on the piste map, it’s more than achievable as an intermediate skier to ski over to Montchavin-Les Coches to take the Vanoise Express over to Peisey-Vallandry to explore the Les Arcs side of Paradiski, adding even more variety.

Advanced

Advanced skiers have easy access through the fast efficient lift system to some of the most challenging terrain in La Plagne. The Bellecôte Glacier is a key highlight, with steep black runs, moguls and off-piste routes.

Other areas closer to Plagne Centre, such as the black runs from the top of the Becoin and Cretes lifts, Etroits, Morbleu and Coqs, provide fast, technical descents. For those looking to explore further, off-piste opportunities are extensive but best enjoyed with a guide.

Mountain fun zones

There are multiple fun areas across La Plagne, including snowparks, boardercross courses and freestyle zones. The fun Buffalo Park slope is easily accessed from Plagne Centre, at the top of the Colorado lift. There are also a number of ungroomed Natur’ runs in the sectors around Plagne Centre.

Nordic skiing

Cross-country skiing is widely available, with access to 85km of trails in La Plagne and more across Paradiski. Routes range from easy local circuits to longer scenic valley trails. The most scenic of these are found above Champagny-en-Vanoise in the Champagny-le-Haut sector, the gateway to the Vanoise National Park.

Iconic experiences

Plagne Centre is ideally placed to access some of the most unique activities in La Plagne. Below the village, just below nearly Plagne 1800, is the Olympic bobsleigh track, where you can actually ride the track that was used in the 1992 Winter Olympics. You can experience thrilling rides reaching speeds of over 100km/h as either a solo rider, as a trio with a driver, or in a driverless 4-man bob.

La Plagne is also home to Aerolive, which is a world first, an open-sided gondola cabin. You are attached to the cabin with a harness and can lean out and enjoy the sensation of gliding through the air as the gondola ascends to Live 3000. Accessed from the Roche de Mio, it’s easy to ski to the start point.

Outdoor and family activities

Families will find plenty to enjoy. There are dedicated sledging zones, and from the snowfront in Plagne Centre, you can access the Colorado Luge track. Snake Luge is another way to experience sledging in Plagne Centre. You’ll be driven down the slopes by an instructor on a train of sledges! The village also has an outdoor ice rink, which is magical in the evening.

Dog sledding is available on the Dou du Praz plateau just above Plagne Villages, which can be easily access via the Telebus bubble lifts. You’ll then have a 20-minute walk to the plateau, but a welcome mountain restaurant awaits!

Adventure and après activities

For something more adventurous, try the 600m zipline that runs between Aime 2000 and Plagne Centre or test out a Snooc, a hybrid sled/ski, that it’s possible to try on the Colorado luge track. Snowmobiling, e-biking on snow as well as other high-energy experiences are available from Plagne Centre.

The central location makes it easy to move between villages to try different activities, giving you more variety throughout your stay.

Dining options

Plagne Centre offers one of the widest dining selections in La Plagne. From casual cafés to traditional Savoyard restaurants, there is something for every taste.

On the mountain, you’ll find a large number of high-altitude restaurants, offering scenic lunches with panoramic views.

Après-ski and nightlife

Compared to quieter villages, Plagne Centre has a livelier après-ski scene. Bars and terraces, around the main square by the snowfront and in the indoor commercial centre, create a sociable atmosphere in the afternoons and evenings. For a quieter evening, you can take the Telebus bubble lifts up to Plagne Villages, where you’ll find a few restaurants and bars.

Shops and amenities

This is where Plagne Centre really stands out. It has the main concentration of shops and services in the resort, including mini-markets, a bakery with a fabulous selection of pastries (tested by our team of course!), pharmacies, banks and the tourist office.
