Les Menuires was designed with skiing in mind, so everything feels efficient and easy. Accommodation is often ski-in/ski-out, lifts are close by, and getting onto the slopes is simple wherever you stay.
While earlier developments gave the resort a more functional look, newer areas such as Reberty and Les Bruyères have introduced a more traditional chalet style, softening the overall feel and creating a more balanced atmosphere.
The resort is spread across several areas along a gently rising valley, each with its own character. La Croisette forms the main hub with the majority of shops and restaurants, staying in other neighbourhoods has the benefit of a quieter base but easy access to La Croisette.
There’s a friendly, sociable atmosphere, with plenty going on, but it never feels overwhelming. It strikes a good balance between lively and relaxed, particularly appealing for families and mixed groups.
Getting around Les Menuires is straightforward, with ski links connecting different sectors and free shuttle buses running between areas. There are also pedestrian bubble lifts from the lower Preyerand area up to La Croisette.
This ease of movement makes daily life simple, whether you’re heading to ski school, meeting friends or going out in the evening.

Les Menuires is an excellent starting point for beginners with two dedicated beginners areas. Wide, gentle slopes make progression natural, and the ability to access easier terrain higher up the mountain means beginners can enjoy the views without feeling intimidated.
When visibility is reduced, there are plenty of beginner-friendly wide greens and blues immediately above the snow front meaning plenty to explore.
Intermediates are particularly well served. The local area offers plenty of wide blue and red runs, and the wider Three Valleys opens up huge variety.
You can spend the day cruising between resorts, linking runs across valleys and building confidence as you go. It’s infinitely possible as an intermediate to ski over to Courchevel for a morning, then back to Les Menuires and over to Val Thorens in the afternoon. Routes like the long descents towards Saint-Martin are a real highlight.
From the top of the Pointe de la Masse gondola at 2804m, there are a choice of routes down including a blue and some ungroomed sections too to add variety. The views over the resort are impressive. Our team loved the long uninterrupted descent, but before you head down, we recommend stopping for a drink in the café/restaurant at the top.
Advanced skiers will find extensive options both locally and across the Three Valleys.
The Pointe de la Masse sector offers steeper terrain and quieter slopes as well as superb snow coverage, while the wider area gives access to long, challenging runs and vast off-piste potential. It’s a resort where you can continually push yourself.
Les Menuires has a strong freestyle and fun offering, including snowparks, two boardercross areas (one blue, one red) and themed zones. These cater to a wide range of abilities, making them accessible to both beginners and confident riders.
There are 28km of cross-country trails along the valley floor, offering a quieter alternative to downhill skiing, with scenic routes linking nearby villages. Starting from the Plan d’Eau in Les Menuires, you can head along the Doron river towards the village of Saint Martin de Belleville.

Les Menuires excels when it comes to family activities. From the La Mine mountain coaster (essentially a sledge on rails where you’re in charge of the speed) to the 4km long Roc’n’Bob toboggan run, which our friends from the lift pass office highly recommend for older teens. You can also try Fat Biking on part of the same track.
Facilities are well designed and easy to access, making it simple to balance skiing with other activities.
There’s a wide variety of experiences on offer, including First Tracks outings to be the first on the slopes, heading out with the ski patrol and enjoying an early breakfast at the top of the mountain.
More unusual options, like a piste basher experience that ends with an aperitif or dinner, evening skidoo outings, or ski touring under the stars. These ways to explore snow-covered landscapes in different ways, help make your week extra special.
You can also visit the Machine Room museum at the top of the Pointe de la Masse gondola to learn how lifts are built and operated, there’s even a large LEGO ® model of the lift.

It’s all the little changes like this that make a cheap and cheerful resort into something more special. It’s evolution more than revolution, but it makes Les Menuires a place to which you want to return. I just won’t leave it 30 years this time.
Les Ménuires is a wonderfully situated resort in the Vallée de Belleville, with superb access to the rest of the massive 3 Valleys ski area. On my visits there I’ve been charmed by the town and its great restaurants, as well as the stunning natural views from the recently opened Pointe de la Masse viewing terrace, 2,800 metres high! As a resort that has historically maintained a great deal of care for its surrounding nature, it offers a lot to do for all lovers of the mountains, whether they be skier or non-skier.
I think this is one of the best places to stay in the 3 Valleys just for the sheer number of easily accessible runs in and round the resort itself. With a mixed ability group, it's ideal. For beginners gaining confidence it couldn't be better. For intermediates, you can easily enjoy the runs around the resort and then explore different parts of the 3 Valleys. We loved the feeling of accomplishment that we got from skiing from the top of the Pointe de la Masse back down to resort.
There are plenty of places to sit in the croisette to have a picnic after morning ski school, and well maintained public toilets (which you don't have to go downstairs to), which was a big tick from our group!
The resort met our needs completely as it is an affordable option for staying in and skiing all of the Trois Vallees. The walk to the centre of Croisette was convenient and very pleasant.
This is the second time we've stayed at Les Menuires. The accomodation (Le Hameau de la Sapinière) was excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was cosy and well equipped. Check in and check out was very smooth and easy. The bread delivery was excellent. The staff at reception and the cleaning staff were extremely helpful. Overall, we highly recommend the accomodation and would certainly consider staying there again.

Les Menuires offers excellent childcare for children from as young as 3 months up to 5 years. Facilities are extensive, including one of the largest ski crèches in France. However, childcare cannot be pre-booked with us and must be arranged directly with the providers. Early booking is strongly recommended during peak weeks.
Les Menuires has a lively but balanced atmosphere. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, activities and après-ski options, but it is not as party-focused as some neighbouring resorts. It suits those wanting sociable evenings without a full nightlife scene.
