La Tania sits quietly in a spruce forest between Méribel and Courchevel, creating a peaceful and sheltered atmosphere. Unlike many resorts in the 3 Valleys, it feels tucked away and relatively undiscovered.
The village is compact and easy to navigate, with most accommodation clustered around the front de neige. This makes getting around simple and helps create a relaxed pace to each day.
The resort centre is fully pedestrianised, with parking on the outskirts, which adds to its family-friendly feel. The resort was designed for the 1992 Winter Olympic Games by the same architects behind Avoriaz in the northern French Alps.
While it doesn’t have the traditional Alpine look of older villages, it was thoughtfully designed with wood and natural materials to sympathetically blend into its surroundings.
La Tania has a calm, friendly vibe. It’s not about nightlife or prestige, but about easy skiing and a stress-free stay.
For those wanting more buzz, both Courchevel and Méribel are easily reached, giving you flexibility without sacrificing peace and quiet.

Beginners are well catered for, there’s a green run back to the village and a beginner area with a magic carpet at the top of the gondola.
There are also several free lifts across La Tania and neighbouring Courchevel sectors, making it easier to practise without committing to a full lift pass straight away. Safe “Zen zones” provide enclosed areas ideal for building confidence.
Intermediate skiers will get the most from La Tania. The local area has enjoyable long rolling woodland runs back to the village, while the wider 3 Valleys offers an impressive range of blue and red pistes.
The lift connections are quick and efficient, meaning you can easily explore Méribel, Courchevel and beyond. The variety and scale make it an excellent choice for those who like to cover distance.
Advanced terrain directly above La Tania is limited (although some of the black descents can be tough purely because of their length), but stronger skiers can quickly access more challenging runs in Courchevel and across the wider 3 Valleys.
Off-piste opportunities can be found below the Col de la Loze ridge, and the size of the wider domain ensures plenty of variety for experienced skiers.
La Tania offers access to larger fun areas in the different villages that make up Courchevel, including snowparks, boardercross and interactive pistes. These add variety, particularly for families with older children.
Cross-country skiing is available across the Courchevel and Méribel valleys, with around 90km of trails. These are well maintained and offer a quieter way to explore the area.

La Tania’s location set amidst forest makes it ideal for snowshoeing and winter walks. Trails lead through peaceful wooded surroundings, offering a slower-paced way to enjoy the mountains.
A long (challenging) scenic walk to Courchevel (1850) is ideal for those who want to explore a little further on foot. The path is uphill at first then flat to Courchevel (1850) and crosses the mythical Eclipse piste. The path runs for 7.5km and takes an average of 2h55 to walk, after which you’ve definitely earned a fancy coffee (or something stronger) in Courchevel!
There are simple, enjoyable activities close to the centre, including sledging areas at both the base and top of the gondola.
These are easy to access and perfect for families.
For more choice, nearby resorts offer a wide range of activities, from ice skating and bowling to larger-scale leisure facilities including Courchevel Moriond’s Aquamotion centre.
Paragliding and other experiences are also easily available, giving you access to the full range of 3 Valleys activities while staying somewhere quieter.

For something more lively, Méribel and Courchevel offer significantly more options just a short ski or bus ride away.
The resort has all the essentials including a supermarket, bakery and ski shops.
For a wider range of shops or luxury boutiques, nearby Courchevel provides plenty of choice. For those self-catering, the proximity of Moutiers (just 25 minutes away by car) makes it a good place to do a food shop on the way up to resort.

To me, La Tania is one of the prettier parts of the 3 Vallees, it's not built up at all and we have some lovely premium accommodation there.

Yes, La Tania is a great option for beginners. There are nursery slopes and a beginner area at the top of the gondola from the resort centre. Free lifts and dedicated beginner zones make it easy to practise and build confidence in a safe environment.

La Tania sits within the 3 Valleys, the largest linked ski area in the world with around 600km of pistes. The local Courchevel/La Tania area offers around 150km, but most visitors will make use of the wider linked domain.
Yes, we can pre-book lift passes for both the local Courchevel/La Tania area or the full 3 Valleys pass with us. Pre-booking is recommended to avoid queues on arrival and get straight onto the slopes.
Yes, ski hire (and snowboards, boots and helmets) can be pre-booked with us. Ensuring the equipment you need is available when you arrive, which is especially important at busy periods.
Yes, childcare is available at La Tanière des Croés for children from 6 months to 4 years (sometimes older under certain programmes). This cannot be pre-booked with us, so we recommend contacting the provider directly before your trip, especially in peak weeks.
Yes, group ski school can be pre-booked with us through the ESF French Ski School in La Tania. Booking is recommended during busy periods to secure places. We can also find out about private lessons for you.
Yes, La Tania is perfectly positioned between Méribel and Courchevel, making it one of the best-value bases for exploring the 3 Valleys. With just a few lifts, you can access the wider ski area and move easily between resorts.
