Why Alpe d'Huez?
The Tour de France, Tom Pidcock... need we say more.
The climbs and rides around Alpe d'Huez are mythical. For road cyclists, the ascent from Bourg d'Oisans to Alpe d'Huez round its 21 hairpin bends is amongst the top three most legendary climbs in the world and features prominently in the Tour de France. Each hairpin is named after a past winner of the Alpe d'Huez stage of the Tour de France.
With an average of an 8% gradient and the steepest sections reaching 12%, the cycling in the area represents a real challenge for dedicated road cyclists. Factor in the stunning views and epic scenery, and you've got a near perfect location.
Tom Pidcock won the Tour de France stage finish at Alpe d’Huez in 2022. He was the youngest rider to ever win on the iconic Alpe d'Huez climb, while his descent from the Col du Galibier has been described as a masterclass in fast descents showing off his speed and technical skill.
