Want to make the most out of your ski break in Les 2 Alpes? We've put together a list of the best non-ski activities in the resort - ranging from paragliding to dog sledding, there's something for skiers and non-skiers alike! Ice Skating
Perfect for an afternoon with the kids, Les 2 Alpes has an 1800m2 open-air ice rink right in the heart of the resort. Open every afternoon and early evening, entry is free for those with a one day or more lift pass! On two evenings in the week the ice rink is reserved for Ice Gliders; sort of bumper cars on ice. A trip to the ice rink would make for an exciting activity, definitely one to tire out the kids!
TOBOGANNING
There are a couple of toboggan runs in Les 2 Alpes; with gentle descents or fast adrenaline runs, there's something for everyone. Great fun for all the family, laughing with your loved ones, you can toboggan in total safety, as the resorts toboggan areas are equipped with foam padding and safety nets. One basic rule of thumb - walk up the sides of the run so you don't get in the way of any sledges. Access to both runs is free of charge and very easy to get to, so great if you've got little legs in tow!
l'Alpette Sledge Run: Just down the snow front from the sports center, this run is close to some of our accommodation, like the Neige et Soleil. Helmets are recommended and supervision of parents is needed for young children. Open until 7.00pm.
Diable Sledge Track: Located just behind the Diable Telemix lift, this slope is secured with nets and foam siding. Close to some of our accommodation, like Ours Blanc and Basecamp Lodge. Helmets are recommended and supervision of parents is needed for young children. Open until 7pm.
SPA
You've got a choice of spa's in resort, even though quite a few of our accommodation have wellness centres', we're sure it would be nice to get away for the morning or afternoon and have a relaxation session, maybe even get a massage! Aacqua Center, in the middle of the resort, has a choice of facilities, from a hot tub, hammam, sauna and fitness area to different massages and treatments. And there's a discount with a 6-day lift pass, what more could you want!
ICE CAVES
You'll find the ice caves of Les 2 Alpes at 3400m altitude, just at the arrival of the Jandri Express lift. Carved by 2 mountain guides, Bernard Lambolez and Bruno Garden, you can discover thousand-year-old ice and amazing ice sculptures 30m under the surface. It took 5 months to create; made up of 8 grottos, 3 rooms and a 200m gallery, there's lots to explore. Check out the video below to find out more!
HORSE-DRAWN SLEIGH RIDES
Relax back and wrap yourself up in the provided blankets whilst you enjoy the hour sleigh ride in the quiet, magical scenery of Les 2 Alpes. With 3 departure times (10am, 2pm and 3.30pm), this unique activity can be enjoyed anytime during your stay in resort! Along the way you can take in the beautiful views and even have a stop for coffee or hot chocolate on the way. And children under 3 go for free!
SNOWSHOEING
Take yourself off for a few hours and explore the mountainside and go snowshoeing! There's two ways you can explore the landscape, using a self-guided route or one of Les 2 Alpes guided sessions. If you fancy heading off yourselves, there are groomed and safe routes to follow, all you need is to rent a pair of snowshoes and you're ready to go - we've linked a handy map of the snowshoe routes here.
The guided sessions are organised by mountain professionals, and allow you to really learn the techniques needed - the guides love sharing their passion for nature and the mountains you'll be snowshoeing around. The guided tours are also the best way to spot some of the animals that call Les 2 Alpes their home, as the guides have a keen eye and know what they're looking for.
Fancy something different? Les 2 Alpes' professional guides also run night-time sessions, where you can walk along the Vallée Blanche's moonlit snow paths, and enjoy a delicious raclette and drink by the fireside!
THE BIG AIRBAG PARK
Take to the skies in the Big Air Bag Park! Grab your own donut-shaped toboggan, or grab a double ring for you and a friend, and launch yourself forwards (or backwards if you're of the adventurous type) down the slope. One of our team, Alison, gave it a go when she visited Les 2 Alpes and said that it was a great activity and one for all of the family - check out the air she got!
DOGSLEDDING
How about gliding over the snow, being pulled by a pack of husky dogs? Les 2 Alpes has great terrain that is perfect for dogsledding. Meet your team of huskies, and then get comfortable in your sled before enjoying the beautiful scenery combined with the thrill of a sled ride. The professional mushers are always keen to share their passion and are always delighted to show you the ropes and let you have a go at driving a dog sled yourself.
APRÈS-SKI
Renowned for having one of the liveliest après ski scenes in the French Alps, Les 2 Alpes has a plethora of choice when it comes to après-ski venues. Arguably one of the most well-known locations is that of The Panobar, which livens up around 3pm with dancers, DJ's and saxophonists that really get the party started. Whether your après consists of eating in a restaurant, tobogganing with the kids, or partaking in a crazy dance party at 2600m, Les 2 Alpes is definitely the place to be! SNOWMOBILING
If you've got the need for speed, then riding a snowmobile around the mountains of Les 2 Alpes ski area might be for you. Learn from the best the different elements of driving these machines - carving turns, accelerating in a straight line and ascents and descents. You can choose between driving and being the passenger as the mobiles seat either one or two. You'll follow a guide up the pistes, around a specially prepared circuit, through some off-piste powder and even go over jumps! If you're feeling even more daring, why not give it a try after dark - but don't forget to wrap up warm, it can get cold up there!
CINÉMA LE SLALOM
Situated right in the centre of the resort, Cinéma le Slalom shows a wide range of films - even English-language films too! With a choice of 2 screens and with a maximum capacity of 189 or 89 people you've definitely got a chance of getting tickets. PARAGLIDING
Fly like the eagles and take to the skies on a tandem paragliding experience. Les 2 Alpes is home to 3 paragliding schools that offer flights for beginners to experts, and even including speed riding classes - a crazy blend of paragliding and skiing! You've enjoyed the landscape from the slopes, so why not enjoy the landscape from above?
