resort info

Situated at the foot of Mont-Blanc, the spa resort of Saint-Gervais has attracted tourists since 1806 and today is popular with discerning skiers. Set in a narrow river gorge halfway between Megève and Chamonix, the landscape is impressive wherever you look.

The small alpine town of Saint Gervais offers diverse après-ski and an excellent selection of interesting food shops, cosy bars, nightclubs and restaurants. Every Thursday morning in Saint Gervais village there is a superb genuine market.

Among Saint Gervais’ attractions are thermal baths with spa treatments, a cinema, casino, and many outdoor activities available such as an Olympic skating rink or unforgettable snowshoe walks. A trip up the mountain on the Mont Blanc Tramway is not to be missed.

Why Saint-Gervais?

·          Only 4kms from the motorway exit and TGV train station.

·          Amazing scenery at the very foot of Europe’s highest peak.

·          Massive and diverse ski area linked with Megève.

·          As a year round lived village, Saint-Gervais is always full of life and offers excellent après-ski.

Saint Gervais local area has 16 lifts, 30 slopes (7 green, 10 blue, 10 red, 3 black) & 50km.

ST GERVAIS SKI AREA

Spoilt for choice, a week is barely enough time to ski the entire Evasion Mont-Blanc area (3rd largest domain in France) and its large number of tree-lined slopes.

Skiing on the Mont Blanc side of Saint-Gervais is served by a rack-and-pinion 1904 railway that takes you to the slopes of Les Houches (where there is another 55km of slopes).

ST GERVAIS BEGINNERS

For beginners, take the main gondola from the resort centre (next to Le Grand Panorama residence) up to an area called Le Bettex. Le Bettex is a great area for beginners with nursery slopes to learn on. There are also many tree-lined scenic slopes to progress on (greens and blues) above the Megeve area. The slopes lead directly from St Gervais to Megeve.

ST GERVAIS INTERMEDIATES

This area is particularly recommended for good intermediates with long reds and blues through scenic locations. Directly above the town on Mont d’Arbois and Mont Joly are some great intermediates slopes.

ST GERVAIS EXPERTS & OFF-PISTE

The Mont Joly and Mont Joux sections offer the steepest slopes where some good off-piste can also be found. Experts wont be bored with the choice of over 445km of piste in the Evasion domain.

ST GERVAIS SNOWBOARDERS

Snowboarders will enjoy one of the best snow parks of the region.

ST GERVAIS RESORT RUNS

The only resort run to St Gervais is the red ‘St Gervais’ run. Other than that you need to take the gondola back down at end of the day.

St Gervais Snow Report – 2004-2014 (10 season average)

Here is the snow record data for St Gervais. The first row shows the week for which the measurement applies eg. February 3 is the 3rd week in February. Top slopes shows the average snow cover in cm at the top of the ski area. Bottom Slopes shows the average snow cover in cm at the bottom of the ski area (this is generally where the nursery pistes are located). About 10 cm is generally enough to ski but it very much depends on what’s below ie. grass or more rocky surface.
