New for winter 12/13, in nearby Avoriaz, Aquariaz is a brand new indoor/outdoor waterpark/swimming pool (30 mins drive):

AQUARIAZ

142 Routes des Rennes
74110 Avoriaz

Phone: +33(0)4 50 74 24 42

Aquariaz has been designed as an aquatic paradise in the mountains featuring lush vegetation and rocks: a river with variable gentle current, a slidewinder (aquatic halfpipe), a water playhouse, a paddling pool, a large pool with climbing walls, massage benches and the must: an open-air spa heated to 34°C! This type of water park is found nowhere else in the mountains and features a 'hybrid' concept with natural tropical vegetation in mountain surroundings.

It is made up of three different worlds:

•    The first world, Water Playhouse, is for younger children and features geysers and pouring-water play equipment including water slides, water guns and a tipping bucket that pours out tens of litres of water at a time. This extends into a large paddling pool.

•    The second world, the Slidewinder, is for the most adventurous bathers who are looking for big thrills and an adrenaline buzz. More than 10 metres up, you sit in a rubber tube and slide down a halfpipe

•    The third world, in the central pool for bathers of all ages, is made up of three sections:
- A gently flowing river with water games (bubbles, jets and faster and slower sections) with two areas of bubble-massage seats along the way.
- A swimming pool, 1.5 metres (5 feet) deep.
- A 1.5m (5ft) deep pool below a climbing wall that extends for its entire length.

And not forgetting the outdoor Jacuzzi® with its uninterrupted view of the valley.

LES GETS SKI AREA

From Les Gets village centre, you can ski Les Gets from a choice of two ski areas. On one side there’s Mont Chery (some of the most challenging slopes and usually quiet) with its sumptuous views of Mont Blanc, and on the other is Chavannes, with access to 650 km of ski-runs and the other resorts in the Portes du Soleil. In order that skiers can cross the village on skis, a white way is built every winter for skiers. It’s actually a snow-covered strip of road that serpents between chalets, letting people cross easily from one side of the mountain to the other, without taking their skis off.

LES GETS BEGINNERS

Les Gets is well situated for beginners with good nursery slopes in the village as well as more snowsure ones up at La Chavannes.

THE MAPPYS’ AREA (BEGINNERS)

Close to the arrival point of the Chavannes cable car, this learning area is located in a quiet and secure environment away from the ski area. It consists of two magic carpets, a snow cable and a rope tow to ski smoothly on 4 slopes. This area is entirely accessible to pedestrians; families and friends are invited to come and encourage their loved ones. This makes skiing in Les Gets convenient. Ski professional welcome this new zone, which significantly expands their teaching space. Note that a direct connection is possible with the Grand Cry Territory via the cable car with the same name.

LES GETS INTERMEDIATES

Intermediates have wide cruising runs from La Ranfolly and from the top of Le Pleney down to Morzine. There are some excellent reds on Mont Chery. Portes du Soleil has extensive intermediate slopes with big lift networks.

LES GETS EXPERTS

For the more advanced there are also good slopes on Mont Chery, on the other side of the resort. Experts will find good steep runs over the back of Mont Chery and off-piste opportunities on Chamossière.

LES GETS SNOWBOARDING

Snowboarding in Les Gets is fun with access to a snowpark on the upper slopes of Mont Chery with airbag, hips, handrails, tables and a wall; plus a Jib park with a table and handrail. There’s a boardercross near the top of Chavannes.

LES GETS OFF-PISTE

In good snow there is plenty to do off-piste, including some excellent wooded areas.
