resort info

The old stone farming village of Saint-Martin de Belleville is full of character, in complete contrast with neighbouring Les Menuires, a purpose-built resort with a somewhat controversial architecture, and the above-perched snow-sure resort of Val Thorens.

Saint-Martin de Belleville is a lived in, unspoiled charming village with an old church (floodlit at night), small square and buildings of wood and stone.

Saint Martin de Belleville has a quiet location, a chic atmosphere and a good variety of bars and restaurants away from the maddening crowds.

Saint Martin de Belleville new 8-person gondola whisks you to the ridge overlooking the valley of Meribel.

Why St Martin de Belleville?

·          Real village life in a chocolate box village

·          Quick access to massive 3 Vallees area

·          A peaceful base

6-seater Reberty chairlift in Les Menuires
The 6-seater easy-access Reberty chairlift (whose turnover can vary between 1800 and 2600 people/hour) completes the Les Menuires and Saint Martin ski lift network. Installed instead of and in the same place as the current Reberty bucket lift (built in 1983 and with a turnover of 600 people/hour), it offers skiers a new way to get back from the Masse as well as a direct access to the Becca ski area, BK Park and the fun Acticross zone.

New Bettex piste
Accessible from the areas of the Roc des 3 Marches, the Becca and Saint Martin, the new blue Bettex piste has been specially designed to facilitate access to the Preyerand area. It not only simplifies the return on skis to this area, but also reduces the density of skiers and non-skiers at the bottom of the pistes at La Croisette.

Creation of a DVA Park
So that off-piste enthusiasts can practice searching for avalanche victims, a DVA park will be installed at the top of the Roc des 3 Marches gondola. The DVA (an Avalanche Victim Detector) is a vital security tool for all those who leave the marked ski area, and it is essential to know how to use it effectively with a shovel and probe.

Walibi gliss area enriched

The Boarder has been traced to a longer route for better feeling. The Walibi Gliss will be enhanced by new musical spots for more fun.

BK park: jump, you're being filmed !
Les Menuires, in partnership with the French Ski Federation, have set up a free video system on zone 1 of the BK Park. The principle is simple: Choose between two modules (a bump or a rail), Login to the terminal at the entrance of the BK park with your ski pass An automatic video of your visit is then taken with several cameras.
On a screen at the bottom of Zone 1 BK Park, you can see your feat straight away.
Then, by entering your mobile phone number, you can receive your free video by MMS with an offer to share it on Facebook, Twitter …. the pictures are even set to music !

SAINT MARTIN SKI AREA

St Martin is a little alpine village which is linked to the large 3 Valleys ski area so you get the best of both worlds. Saint Martin de Belleville is blessed with lightly wooded slopes unlike its neighbour ski resort Val Thorens. There are fast lifts that get you to the slopes of Les Menuires and Meribel.

SAINT MARTIN BEGINNERS

Beginners can start on the nursery slope from the centre of St Martin de Belleville village (running alongside our featured residence – Les Chalets du Gypse) and then progress on to easy blue runs from the top of ‘Tougnete’ and explore the rest of the Three Valleys. There are 5 free beginners’ lifts in the valley.

SAINT MARTIN INTERMEDIATES

Intermediates will find endless opportunities to explore the whole Three Valleys and St Martin de Belleville. 3 Valleys has extensive intermediate slopes with big lift networks. Locally, at Les Menuires the slopes above the village on the west-facing side have lots to offer and are all pretty much blues and reds.

SAINT MARTIN EXPERTS

Advanced skiers and boarders won’t feel left out with a choice of moguls, steep runs or off-piste in just about every corner of the ski area. The Orelle area above Val Thorens is particularly worth a try. Head to the upper slopes of La Masse for steeper slopes. It also has some of the best snow in the 3 Valleys at La Masse. There is also a huge amount of off piste runs within the 3 Valleys.

SAINT MARTIN SNOW COVERAGE

Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville (highest altitude 2850m) benefit from an exceptional natural snow cover. This is reinforced by more than 410 snow cannons covering 50% of the pistes. Two summits (at 2700 m and 2850 m) benefit from artificial snow, from the top of the pistes right down into the centre of the resort. The production of artificial snow starts in November and continues throughout the winter.

Ski School: Lesson times are subject to change right until the last minute. Outside French school holidays the ski school reserves the right to cancel group lessons should numbers be insufficient. For peak periods (23/12-6/1, 16/2-16/3 & 14/4-21/4) we strongly recommend that you book as early as possible and in any case at least 6 weeks prior to the required dates. Morning lessons tend to get booked up first and therefore we may only be able to offer afternoon classes within 6 weeks of departure. In some resorts English speaking instructors may not always be available, particularly at peak times.
