resort info

Notre Dame de Bellecombe is an enchantingly picturesque village with a distinctive bulb-shaped bell tower that dates back to the 11th century.  This ancient farming community is made up of 11 tiny hamlets with a permanent population of only 510 people. It is situated above Flumet in the rural Val d'Arly between Megève and Albertville.

The landscape at Notre-Dame de Bellecombe consists of spruce forests, alpine chalets set on mountain pastures, and snow capped peaks. Notre-Dame de Bellecombe is easy to get to, from the south via Alberville or from the north via Sallanches – both 25 km from the motorway exits, or by TGV and connecting buses.

Words do not do justice to the village of Notre-Dame de Bellecombe, with its Baroque steeple as a centre piece and traditional wooden chalets spreading over 11 hamlets. The long sunny days at Notre-Dame de Bellecombe are filled with traditional trade exhibitions and wine festivals as well as walks through the stunning scenery with fascinating wildlife and beautiful flowers. A local market is held every Monday morning in Notre-Dame de Bellecombe.

Espace Val d’Arly

120 km of pistes in 4 villages of Val d’Arly: Praz sur Arly, Flumet, Notre Dame de Bellecombe and Crest Voland/Cohenno (excludes Les Saisies)

No. of slopes 97

2 snowparks

Set among forests and alpine meadows, with stunning views of Mont Blanc, the Beaufortain and Aravis ranges, the ski area extends between the Beaufortain and Val d’Arly, offering a very varied terrain. Notre Dame is linked to neighbouring Flumet and Praz sur Arly. It is also connected to the pistes of Les Saisies and Crest-Voland to create the giant Espace Diamant ski area serving 192km of groomed slopes. The Espace Diamant, in total, links six pretty alpine villages: Crest Voland Cohennoz, Flumet, Hauteluce, Notre Dame de Bellecombe, Praz sur Arly and Les Saisies.

60% of the slopes in Espace Diamant are green or blue so perfect for beginners and intermediates. There are plenty of slopes for the adventurous intermediate and expert too.

There are various drag lifts and nursery slopes at the bottom of the ski area at 1150m. A chairlift takes you further up to access further greens and some long blues to progress on. You can also get the bus to nearby Crest Voland where there are further long green slopes.

Intermediate skiers are well looked after with many blue and red runs to explore on. The domain is quite large (192km) so there is plenty to keep the adventurous intermediate happy.

There aren’t too many black runs (around 10 in total) in the Espace Diamant domain but there are plenty of red runs that make up for this (around 50 in total). Hauteluce’s ski area has many challenging runs and is a favourite among local freeriders.

Resort runs are blue or red back down to Notre Dame 1150m.

Notre Dame de Bellecombe Snow Report – 2004-2014 (10 season average)

Notre Dame de Bellecombe normally benefits from an above average snow record for its altitude range thanks to the microclimate resulting from the proximity of Mont Blanc. Sufficient snow cover is expected from Christmas until mid-April. Nearby Les Saisies (see Les Saisies snow record) is on the same Espace Diamant ski area and benefits from an excellent snow record. If during early or late season conditions are not perfect in Notre Dame de Bellecombe the resort has traditionally put in place shuttles to Les Saisies. Here is the snow record data for Notre Dame de Bellecombe. The first row shows the week for which the measurement applies eg. February 3 is the 3rd week in February. Top slopes shows the average snow cover in cm at the top of the ski area. Bottom Slopes shows the average snow cover in cm at the bottom of the ski area (this is generally where the nursery pistes are located). About 10 cm is generally enough to ski but it very much depends on what’s below ie. grass or more rocky surface.
