Notre Dame de Bellecombe Resort Information

This is an enchantingly picturesque village with a distinctive bulb-shaped bell tower that dates back to the 11th century.

Words do not do justice to the village of Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, with its Baroque steeple as a centrepiece and traditional wooden chalets spreading over 11 hamlets. The long sunny days at Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe are filled with traditional trade exhibitions and wine festivals as well as walks through the stunning scenery with fascinating wildlife and beautiful flowers. A local market is held every Monday morning.

This ancient farming community is made up of 11 tiny hamlets with a permanent population of only 510 people. It is situated above Flumet in the rural Val d'Arly between Megève and Albertville. (Read Mary Novakovich's review of the Val d'Arly ski resorts on The Guardian's site here.)

The landscape at Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe consists of spruce forests, alpine chalets set on mountain pastures, and snow-capped peaks. Notre-Dame de Bellecombe is easy to get to, from the south via Albertville or from the north via Sallanches – both 25 km from the motorway exits or by TGV and connecting buses.

Peak Retreats features self-catered apartments Le Village and Belles Roches in Notre Dame de Bellecombe. Ideally located in the heart of the resort, these ski apartments offer an ideal base for a Notre Dame de Bellecombe ski holiday.

NOTRE-DAME-DE-BELLECOMBE SKI AREA

Gentle nursery slopes and scenic pistes with magnificent views of Mont Blanc wind down through the spruce woods of Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe. This is an ideal area for novices and intermediates, with plenty of off-piste opportunities for more accomplished skiers.

Set among forests and alpine meadows, with stunning views of Mont Blanc, the Beaufortain and Aravis ranges, the ski area extends between the Beaufortain and Val d’Arly, offering very varied terrain. Notre Dame is linked to neighbouring Flumet and Praz sur Arly. It is also connected to the pistes of Les Saisies and Crest-Voland to create the giant Espace Diamant ski area serving 192km of groomed slopes. The Espace Diamant, in total, links six pretty Alpine villages: Crest Voland Cohennoz, Flumet, Hauteluce, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Praz-sur-Arly and Les Saisies.

Some 60% of the slopes in the Espace Diamant are green or blue so ideal for beginners and intermediates. There are plenty of slopes for the adventurous intermediate and expert too.

NOTRE-DAME-DE-BELLECOMBE SKIING

NOTRE-DAME-DE-BELLECOMBE BEGINNERS

There are various drag lifts and nursery slopes at the bottom of the ski area at 1150m. A chairlift takes you further up to access further green runs and some long blues to progress on. You can also get the bus to nearby Crest Voland where there are further long green slopes.

NOTRE-DAME-DE-BELLECOMBE INTERMEDIATES

Intermediate skiers are well looked after with many blue and red runs to explore on. The domain is quite large (192km) so there is plenty to keep the adventurous intermediate happy.

NOTRE-DAME-DE-BELLECOMBE EXPERTS

There aren’t too many black runs (around 10 in total) in the Espace Diamant domain but there are plenty of red runs that make up for this (around 50 in total). Hauteluce’s ski area has many challenging runs and is a favourite among local free-riders.

NOTRE-DAME-DE-BELLECOMBE RESORT RUNS

Resort runs down to Notre Dame 1150m are blue or red.
