It’s an unspoilt, historic resort dating back
to the 16th century, with its own Gallic identity,
yet there’s a wide choice of restaurants and
bars for much livelier and varied apres ski than most resorts
offer.
Savoyard style with its chalet style buildings,
wooden facades, carved balconies and slate-covered
roofs, Morzine offers
more than 30 bistros and restaurants, including some
of the best in the whole region. There are three
discos, two cinemas, many bars and an ice-skating
arena that hosts the world’s top skaters
This artificial skating rink is also open for public
skating and has a panoramic bar-restaurant. In
addition a fitness centre with weights room, sauna
and hot tub, has been installed in the Sports
Centre. Sleigh rides are also available.
The adventurous can try snowmobiling or ice
climbing on frozen waterfalls.
In April 2004, Morzine-Avoriaz’s
ski-lifts received ISO 9001 certification hence a
high standard and efficiency are guaranteed.
Morzine
was also voted 5th best ski
resort in the world in the Daily Telegraph Travel
Awards, 2001.
