resort info

The attractive farming village of Champagny is in a pretty wooded setting where modern expansion was carried out sensitively. Tucked away on the sunny south-facing slopes of the Grande Plagne ski area, it is also the gateway to the famous and magnificent Vanoise National Park.

The village of Champagny has a small but fine selection of restaurants to suit all tastes (9), just enough bars, even a disco and cinema, mini supermarket, boulangerie and local speciality shop with more services in nearby Bozel (3 miles away).

Entertainment in Champagny is organised every week with a welcome drink on Sundays.

Champagny is renowned for cross country and winter walkers but for something different try the new 20m artificial ice climbing tower which is the only one of its kind in Europe.

Why Champagny?

·          Direct ski access to the massive Paradiski area

·          Stunning setting and authentic charm

·          Far from the madding crowds of the other La Plagne resorts

A WINTER ANNIVERSARY, PARADISKI CELEBRATES 10 YEARS
Ten years ago, on the 20th December, 2003, the Vanoise Express cable car was born. In the space of 10 years, Paradiski has welcomed over 5 million skiers on its pistes! To celebrate this anniversary, Paradiski has asked the haute-couture designer, Jean-Charles DeCastelbajac, to decorate the Vanoise Express.  The world-renowned artist and innovator will cover the two double-decker Vanoise Express cable cars in a unique creation which will feature throughout winter 2013/2014.

Medical centre, dentist, chemist, physiotherapist, bank, all at Bozel (5km)

ski info

Paradiski is the second largest ski area in the world and one of the very large interconnected areas. With the massifs of Les Arcs/ Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne linked by the Vanoise Express, the world’s largest cable car, the ultra-modern machine is a two-level panoramic cabin and crosses between the massifs of the 3 resorts in just 4 minutes. It can carry 4000 people per hour. The Paradiski lift system is one of the fastest and most modern that exists.

With 70% of the ski runs at over 2000 metres and one of the world’s most modern artificial snow systems, Paradiski guarantees top-quality snow conditions from December to April. With the best-known peaks, such as Mont Blanc and the Pierra Menta forming a panoramic background, Paradiski is also the gateway to the Vanoise national park, a nature reserve of 53,000 hectares.

The cable car from the centre of the village takes skiers to an altitude of 2,000m within 8 minutes. The return direct to the village is either by a red run or the cable car.
The ski area is an intermediates' paradise with 80% of runs being blues or reds.

CHAMPAGNY SKI AREA

Champagny is a little alpine village which is linked to the large Paradiski ski area so you get the best of both worlds. Champagny is a sunny sector with excellent long runs and views across to Courchevel.

Champagny is well placed for an outing by car to neighbouring Courchevel (literally down the road) and the 3 Vallées which is a bit further (21km).

CHAMPAGNY BEGINNERS

The snowsure beginners’ area (with free lifts) is at the top of the cable car where superb views can be enjoyed. To go back to Champagny, access is via the cable car for beginners and early intermedaites as the resort runs are long reds.

CHAMPAGNY INTERMEDIATES

Paradiski has extensive intermediate slopes with big lift networks. The champagny sector allegedly has a couple of tough reds leading from Grande Rochette (Kamikaze bad Hara-Kiri). Try the long Mont de la Guerre red (1250m vertical) from Les Verdons to Champagny. The resort runs into Champagny are via 2 long red runs.

CHAMPAGNY EXPERTS

Advanced skiers will enjoy the runs on the Bellecote glacier whilst those seeking off-piste challenges should take the short hike up the Cul du Nant for the classic descent through the Vanoise National Park (guide required).

CHAMPAGNY FREERIDE

There is a bordercross beside the Rossa chairlift.
