MORZINE

ACCOMMODATION - HOTEL LE PETIT DRU

About the hotel: Le Petit Dru is a family-run hotel that is situated in a pleasant, quiet location above the resort of Morzine. Guests staying can enjoy both an indoor and outdoor pool, along with sauna, hot tub, steam room and spa facilities, with a free ski bus stop allowing for a quick journey to the resort centre.

The skiing: Morzine's skiing is good for beginners but suits intermediate skiers especially. 

Ski area: Portes du Soleil - Resort height: 1172m - Resort top height: 2350m - Km piste: 600 - No. of slopes: 307 (39 Green, 130 Blue, 105 Red, 33 Black) 

What to do in Morzine: Along with easy access to skiing in nearby resorts Les Gets and Avoriaz, Morzine is also a great resort for families and non-skiers alike to have a fun time, with plenty of activities, ski-based or otherwise for you to take part in during your holiday. Indoor and outdoor ice rinks, ice climbing, paragliding and helicopter flights on request gives those who aren't as confident with skiing an assortment of things to do, whilst there are many fun skiing activities such as access to heli-skiing, ski tours around the Haute-Savoie mountain ranges and being pulled by a horse with ski joëring.

BOURG ST MAURICE

ACCOMMODATION - BASECAMP LODGE

About the hotel: Basecamp Lodge Bourg St Maurice is a good place to stay for access to a wide variety of things to do, being located in the valley below the Paradiski ski area (the ski area that links Les Arcs and La Plagne), you can get to the neighbouring resort Arc 1600 via the funicular near the hotel in less than 7 minutes. This will give you the chance to ski the whole of the Paradiski ski area. In Bourg St Maurice, the hotel is in the heart of local shops and restaurants, with concerts and other events being held during the week.

The skiing: Skiing in Les Arcs and Paradiski from Bourg St Maurice is ideal for all levels and has a huge amount to offer intermediate skiers. With Bourg St Maurice as your basecamp you can also ski in La Rosière and Sainte Foy, or even head to Tignes.

Ski area: Paradiski - Resort height: 1200m - Resort top height: 3250m - Km piste: 425 - No. of slopes: 258 (18 Green, 129 Blue, 77 Red, 34 Black)

What to do in Bourg St Maurice: Bourg Saint Maurice is a great base from which to explore the vast Paradiski area, meaning there are many options in terms of non-ski activities, including a good choice of restaurants and bars, as well as having access to other resorts such as Les Arcs via the funicular, or a short drive to La Rosière, La Plagne or Tignes. Much of the skiing and other activities available will take place in these resorts, with Bourg St Maurice having offerings of its own for non-ski activities. This includes a cinema, a mineral museum, an urban art area and an indoor heated swimming pool.

VAL CENIS

ACCOMMODATION - HOTEL SAINT CHARLES

About the hotel: Hotel Saint Charles has an excellently convenient location, with it being just 100m away from a choice of three different chairlifts. You can also find the ESF Ski School next door to a bar-restaurant. Guests here can also enjoy relaxing with facilities such as a wellness area with an indoor heated swimming pool, or a spa with a sauna and sensory shower.

The skiing: Val Cenis skiing is ideal for beginners, with plenty of green runs going into Val Cenis' villages. There are also many blue and red runs for intermediate level skiers to take on.

Ski area: Val Cenis Vanoise - Resort height: 1400m - Resort top height: 2800m - Km piste: 125 - No. of slopes: 62 (16 Green, 19 Blue, 22 Red, 5 Black)

What to do in Val Cenis: Made up of two charming, traditional villages, Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard, there are plenty of fun activities on offer, or you can soak up the local culture. Activites include ice skating with hockey equipment available, snowshoe walks, snowtubing, paragliding and many more. There are over 30 bars and restaurants to choose from across both villages, giving you plenty of choice for eating out. From Val Cenis, it's also easy to access resorts in the 3 Valleys through Orelle, which can be accessed by a modern, fast cable car.

VAL THORENS

ACCOMMODATION - KOH-I NOR

About the hotel: The award-winning Hotel Koh-I Nor in Val Thorens is luxurious, with both amazing views and an extensive room selection spanning over 60 guest rooms and suites with plenty of space in each. Guests here can make use of some superb facilities including a huge spa with an indoor heated pool, sauna and hot tub. You will also have a choice of three different restaurants each with their own unique specialties, meaning you are spoilt for choice when it comes to food.

The skiing: Val Thorens' skiing is great for intermediate skiers and has a range of offerings for expert skiing as well.

Ski area: 3 Valleys - Resort height: 2300m - Resort top height: 3230m - Km piste: 600 - No. of slopes: 342 (55 Green, 140 Blue, 113 Red, 34 Black)

What to do in Val Thorens: This ultra-high altitude ski resort has something for everyone to enjoy. With a large beginners' skiing area that is free to access, to blue and red runs that allow you to access nearby resorts Les Menuires and Méribel, to highly regarded off-piste skiing for expert level skiers, people of all skill levels can have a great time skiing in Val Thorens. For non-skiing activities, there is a massive amount to take part in, including a zipline connected to Orelle, dog-sledding, tobogganing, and a variety of other snow activities. There's also plenty of activities away from the snow such as paragliding, bowling, ice skating and the "Le Board" sports centre.

TIGNES LE LAC

ACCOMMODATION - HOTEL LE LEVANNA

About the hotel: Hotel Le Levanna gives you ski-in/ski-out access with a perfect location on the slopes in Tignes le Lac, as well as being right by the Toviere gondola. Here you can also see an amazing view of the lake as well as the glacier. Guests at Le Levanna can also enjoy a spa with sauna and hot tub, whilst there are several restaurants and bars available to eat at.

The skiing: The vast Tignes/Val d'Isère ski area is one of the best for intermediate skiers, and also offers skiing on the Grande Motte glacier, accessible from Tignes Val Claret.

Ski area: Tarentaise - Resort height: 2100m - Resort top height: 3456m - Km piste: 300 - No. of slopes: 161 (24 Green, 65 Blue, 40 Red, 32 Black)

What to do in Tignes le Lac: Tignes has a large range of activities on the snow and for non-skiers across its villages. Just a few of these includes snowshoeing walks, snowmobiling and eco-friendly electric snowbiking, sledging, horse and pony rides, ice climbing, paragliding and a lot more. The Tignes area also has a lot to choose from when it comes to restaurants, with over 60 to choose from in total, plus it's home to the original La Folie Douce, the famous cabaret bar on the slopes in Val d'Isère with live DJs.
