Terminal Neige Refuge du Montenvers (hotel)

Enjoying an exceptional, breathtaking location right by the Mer de Glace, at a height of 6725 feet, opposite the Aiguille des Drus, at the top of the Montenvers cog railway, the historic old Grand Hotel du Montenvers.

Reopened summer 2017, the hotel has been lovingly and stylishly transformed from a mountain refuge into a cosy, comfortable hotel providing all modern amenities, whilst retaining all its authenticity, with its austere granite exterior, its rustic alpine décor and its mountain atmosphere. 

The Terminal Neige Refuge du Montenvers is offered on a B&B. Breakfast-wise, you can stock up on energy with a selection of regional produce: local cheeses and ham plus pastries, cereals and fresh fruits served with a tasty hot chocolate to get the day off to a gentle start.

For lunch and dinner, book at the 'Restaurant du Montenvers' which offers you mountain cuisine, honouring the local produce in harmony with the seasons. Enjoy lunch on the sunny terrace facing the Dru peaks or inside cozy and warm in the dining room, with cuisine of authentic flavors made magical by the mountain setting.

You can also stop at the 'Bar des Glaciers' coffee shop. At any time of the day, let yourself be tempted by the sandwiches while reliving the highlights of your excursion or try othe quiche of the day while waiting for the famous red train.

There are now 12 bedrooms, 5 family rooms and 2 suites. 6 room types are available, all with shower and wc except the suites, which have shower and bath and wc).

Refuge room sleeping 2 (c.15m2): either a double or 2 single beds, Mer de Glace or valley view. Can accommodate a baby cot
Altitude suite sleeping up to 3 (c.30m2): double bed and a sofa bed or single bed, Mer de Glace view. Can accommodate a baby cot. Bathrobe and slippers. The bathroom offers a bath and a shower and is open to the bedroom giving the whole area a boudoir feel
Hiker room sleeping up to 3 (c.17m2): double bed and a sofa bed or single bed, valley view. Can accommodate a baby cot
Hiker room sleeping up to 5 (c.30m2): double bed and a sofa bed or single bed plus bunk beds, valley view. Can accommodate a baby cot
Tribu room sleeping up to 7 (c.35m2): designed for families or groups of friends, 2 x double beds, single bed and on the mezzanine 2 additional single beds, Mer de Glace view. Can accommodate a baby cot

Price is unless specified, per person, per week, in £s Sterling, including a Standard Eurotunnel crossing from Folkestone to Calais with a car with Free FlexiPlus upgrade on selected dates on a half board basis. A supplement will apply for travel on certain peak dates. Other routes and operators available (including P&O routes from Hull to Zeebrugge or Rotterdam plus Brittany Ferries route from Portsmouth to Caen).
