What is Ski Confidence Week?
Ski Confidence Week is a unique blend of expert mindset coaching, supportive on-piste instruction/guiding and a relaxed, sociable short break in the French Alps.
Leading up to the trip, you’ll take part in a live online Ski Confidence Course, designed and led by confidence coach Louise Pode. This will give you time to get to know others in the group, explore what sits behind your nerves and develop practical tools you can use on the slopes.
You will then head to La Rosière for a four-night stay at Alparena Hotel & Spa, where you will put everything into practice in a supportive ski environment.
The trip includes three mornings of small group lessons, with free time in the afternoons to rest, reflect, explore the slopes at your own pace or enjoy the hotel’s spa facilities. Breakfasts and dinners will be communal and relaxed, creating space to connect with others.
Throughout the trip, the environment is intentionally unhurried and supportive. Nothing is compulsory and there is always space to take breaks, change plans or go at your own pace.

About the Ski Confidence Course
It all starts before you travel. You’ll join Ski Confidence Coach Louise Pode and a small group of likeminded skiers over two weeks on Zoom for four sessions in the lead up to the trip. On your return, there will be a follow up reflective session to enable you to build on your success.
On the course you’ll explore what’s behind any anxiety you might have around skiing and create a toolkit of coping strategies so by the time you step onto the slopes you'll be feeling calmer and more in control.
You'll explore the thoughts and fears that hold you back and develop clear, personalised strategies so that when you arrive on the slopes, you feel grounded, and ready to feel the flow of the mountain.
Alison Willis, Managing Director of Peak Retreats has previously done Louise's course. Read her review.
What does the course cover?
Over five tailored, 60-minute online sessions, you'll work together to understand what's building that feeling of anxiety and develop the tools to manage it.
You'll come away with practical strategies, a calmer mindset, and the confidence to relax into your skiing.
The course will cover:
- Your personal 'why' - discovering what skiing means to you and setting a goal that feels inspiring
- Understanding your fear - identifying where your anxiety and concerns come from and how to manage it
- Tools to calm your nerves - so you feel more relaxed before and during skiing
- Mindset shifts to build resilience - learning to reframe challenges and build self-trust
- Celebrating progress - recognising what's working and how to keep growing
After each session, you'll receive a follow-up email with key takeaways, insights, and helpful resources to keep your momentum going.
What you’ll gain
The course is designed to both work on your mindset in the long term as well as providing practical tools to help you manage your feelings of anxiety in the moment.
Participants can expect to:

Ski Confidence Week will be hosted by Alison Willis, Managing Director of Peak Retreats and Nicola Moss, Marketing Director.

Ski Confidence Week is hosted by Alison Willis, Managing Director, and Nicola Moss, Marketing Director at Peak Retreats.
Both have experienced their own ski confidence challenges, giving them a genuine understanding of how it can feel to be nervous on the slopes. Alison has also completed Louise Pode’s Ski Confidence Course, offering further insight into the techniques you will be exploring.
Alison says: "Louise’s calm and reassuring manner helped me understand my anxieties behind skiing – I am competitive, and love to win and to be in control but I didn’t feel like I was winning at skiing. Everyone’s concerns will be different but Louise carefully unpicks the ‘why’ and gives you tools to help change your mindset."
Alison and Nicola will be on hand throughout the week to support the group, help organise day‑to‑day plans and ensure everything runs smoothly in a friendly, relaxed environment.

Frequently asked questions
I am coming with a friend, can we share a room?
Yes, there is an option to share a twin bedroom.
Are group meals compulsory?
The breakfast and evening meals are included in the package however there is no obligation to join the group if you prefer quiet mealtimes.
What happens at lunchtime?
Lunches are flexible. Our team can recommend lunch spots and help facilitate small group meet ups.
Can beginners attend the Ski Confidence Week?
Skiers don’t need huge amounts of experience to attend but they do need to have skied before. It might be that you’ve done a couple of ski holidays and are still feeling nervous or perhaps you skied years ago and are feeling apprehensive about returning to the slopes.
What ski level do I need to be?
You do need to have skied before, but you don’t need to feel confident. Ski Confidence Week is suitable for nervous early intermediates through to more experienced skiers who feel anxious in certain situations or terrain. We will group people by ability; skiing will take place in small groups and instruction will be adapted to suit each group’s level.
Will I be pressured to ski beyond my comfort zone?
No. This week is designed to support you, not push you. You are always encouraged to ski at a pace and on terrain that feels manageable for you. There is no expectation to ski every run or every day if you don’t want to.
How big are the ski groups?
These will be groups of up to four people and aligned by ability.
What if I’m travelling on my own?
Many participants join Ski Confidence Week solo. The trip is designed to feel sociable without being overwhelming, with optional shared meals. Our hosts will help make introductions and facilitate plans so solo travellers feel welcome and included.
What if I can’t attend one of the online sessions?
If you miss a session, you will still receive the follow‑up email with key takeaways and resources. We strongly recommend attending live where possible, as the group interaction is a valuable part of the experience.
Can I extend my stay?
Extensions may be possible depending on availability. Please speak to our team if you would like to arrive earlier or stay on after Ski Confidence Week.
Can I bring other members of my family who don’t want to participate in Ski Confidence Week?
Yes, we can arrange accommodation and train travel and/or private transfers for other family members. Please get in touch for prices.
Are there any age restrictions?
The trip is for adults aged 18+.
