Albiez Montrond Resort Information
One hour from Chambéry (in the direction of Turin), overlooking the Maurienne valley, Albiez-Montrond is a typical Savoyard village set in the breathtaking landscape of the Albiez plateau. Benefiting from a microclimate, it boasts above average sunshine. From a traditional rural base it has slowly opened-up to tourism but has retained the soul and warmth of its origins.
On a plateau at the foot of 3 stunning and majestic needles of the Aiguilles d’Arves, Albiez-Montrond (pronounced with silent ‘t’) is accessed from the town of Saint-Jean de Maurienne (18 km away). On the A43 motorway and close to a TGV train station, St-Jean is easy to reach.
Albiez-Montrond is split into four sectors and various hamlets - the main four are Montrond 1500m, Col du Mollard 1600m, Chef-Lieu 1500m and Albiez le Jeune 1360m. Peak Retreats features accommodation in Col du Mollard. Resort shuttle buses from between Albiez Mollard and Chef-Lieu run Sunday-Friday from 9am-6pm (and until 7pm in French school holidays).
A Beaufort cheese designated area, this delicious product is made and sold locally. But keep some space in the boot for the many other local specialities such as reblochonnade, farci, génépi and Mont Corbier. For something different, try a snowshoe walk to the foot of the Aiguilles d’Arves – the views are unforgettable and take your breath away – or relax on a husky sleigh ride, hire a snow scooter, try parapenting or simply enjoy the resort entertainment including luge events for all the family.
