Instants d’Absolu Ecolodge and spa is a 300 year old, 12-bedroom farmhouse that has been lovingly restored by its current owners, Laurence and Daniel. The closest village to the Ecolodge is Neussarges en Pinatelle, between Murat and Allanche, approximately an hour’s drive south of Clermont-Ferrand.

Ideal for couples, its peaceful location, surrounded by countryside, gives a feeling of space and takes guests back to nature. The Ecolodge describes itself as being a luxury hotel with the relaxed atmosphere of a family home.

The restaurant at the Ecolodge uses fresh, local, seasonal ingredients to create inventive dishes. The restaurant faces onto the lake. An outdoor chalet-grill offers an alternative dining experience from a privileged position above the lake.

The Spa is in an exceptional location, surrounded by nature. As well as a hammam, sauna and outdoor hot tub by the lake, Thala-source® treatments are possible; from hydro-therapy treatments to volcanic clay wraps.

The experience

Peak Retreats can offer a unique experience-based stay at the Ecolodge, our 4-night wilderness wellness itinerary enables guests to combine the discovery of the fascinating flora and fauna of the area with the practice of an innovative style of yoga, practised outdoors, whilst enjoying all that the Ecolodge has to offer.

4 night Wilderness Wellness stay in the Cantal area of the Auvergne

Discover one of France’s least known areas, explore its volcanos and fascinating flora and fauna and try out an innovative style of yoga, practised outdoors, which reinforces our connection with nature and is radically different from urban yoga.

Our 4-night Wilderness Wellness break would typically include the following:

Day 1 – arrival and dinner

Day 2 - breakfast, morning spa session– volcanic clay body wrap; bath in essential oils; massage; lunch of vegetable and fruit juices; followed by an afternoon sensory walk in the Pinatelle pine forest accompanied by a yoga instructor and expert naturalist, focussing on your sense of hearing (tuning into the forest’s birds) and taste (sampling some edible wildflowers and making tea); the walk continues to an outdoor terrace for a private yoga session. Dinner at the Ecolodge.

Day 3 - breakfast, followed by a day spent discovering local volcanoes, including either the famous Prat de Bouc or the Puy Mary; lunch in a buron (a shepherd’s hut) to sample delicious local delicacies such as pounti and truffade; then from mid-afternoon, a nature yoga session, focussing on breathing techniques. Dinner at the Ecolodge.

Day 4 – breakfast followed by an exploration of the local landscape, accompanied by an expert naturalist and your yoga teacher; explanation of the eco-system of a peat-bog and discovery of some carnivorous plants, such as droséra, found abundantly locally. Lunch is taken in a small family-run restaurant with local specialities. An afternoon yoga session focuses on posture and meditation. Dinner at the Ecolodge.
