At the end of April, the Peak Retreats’ team visited Club Med La Plagne 2100, in Paradiski, where we found out just how well Club Med look after their clients.
Team skiing at La Plagne, Paradiski
Our end of season ski trip took us to La Plagne!
When we arrived at Club Med La Plagne 2100, we had a very friendly welcome. We were introduced to the Club Manager and the Head G.O (G.O's are Club Med Ambassadors).
Our room had plenty of wardrobe space for ski gear and normal clothes; a desk, hot drink facilities, and a nice bathroom. The mountain views from the room were beautiful.
The view of the mountains from our hotel room was the best thing to wake up to
The staff were incredibly good at making you feel welcome, everyone always had a cheery 'bonjour' for us.
“The service was superb, all the staff were friendly and very helpful” Marie-Laure, Peak Retreats team.
We all opted to get our ski hire during the afternoon, to save the trouble of queuing the next morning. The staff were very helpful, and the equipment was excellent.
The ski hire shop had excellent equipment
Later we had our first experience of the all-inclusive buffet….it was wonderful! The amount of choice was fantastic, with cold and hot; sweet and savoury; starters, mains and desserts. After a long day, we all appreciated the all-inclusive nature…no one was shy about getting seconds!
Just some of the options available as a starter at dinner
“The quality of the food was amazing. Fortunately the desire to go skiing was stronger, otherwise I could not stop eating!” Marie-Sophie, Peak Retreats team.
On Friday our group was split according to ability, but everyone enjoyed the ski-in/ski-out layout and the complete ease of getting on the slopes. The meeting point for ski lessons was just next to the terrace, it was a really practical layout.
Superb skiing conditions up high in April - Skiing down the 'Rochette' black run
The chocolate fountain 'snack' served in the afternoon on the sun terrace
“We had the opportunity to visit Club Med in Peisey which was very nice. I really enjoyed the BBQ on the terrace. The food was great, and the weather and views were amazing!” Marine, Peak Retreats team.
One member of our team was not skiing this day but found that the Club Med have plenty to offer for non-skiers too.
“Even if you don’t ski, there’s so much to enjoy! My facial massage in the spa was such a treat!” Marie-Anne, Peak Retreats team.
Making the most of the sun terrace - which caught the sun all day long
In the afternoons we met at the sun terrace – ideally located to catch the sun, perfect as it was even t-shirt weather! The all-inclusive nature carried on, there were plenty of snacks and refreshments offered including sweet treats, mulled wine and hot chocolate, a definite benefit of all-inclusive. Club Med play background music or have live bands on the terrace, which created a wonderful atmosphere.
Oyster apéritifs served in the afternoon
“The Terrace in La Plagne was nice, the view was amazing, and we were protected against the April wind.” Marine, Peak Retreats team.
In the evening we met for aperitifs in the bar area (oysters, canapes, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are also all-inclusive!) accompanied by a group of very talented jazz musicians.
Champagne dinner welcome by La Plagne 2100 Club Manager
The restaurant is on the ground floor and upon arrival we were greeted with champagne served by the Club Manager.
“The most striking aspect for me was the professionalism of the lovely GO’s: all devoted to their jobs and always with a ready smile – amazing at the end of a long season!” Neil, Peak Retreats Product Manager.
Dinner, the ‘usual’ large buffet, was very well-earned on this day. After just one full day, you got the feeling that the staff already knew your face as they greeted you with a big smile. They were easy to approach to ask questions about the food.
Just some of the options available for dessert
For those with dietary requirements, let us know in advance and we can contact Club Med for you to arrange a meeting with the Chef. They will guide you through the menu, and let you know what you’ll be able to eat during your stay. They can also tell you if they have special food in for you i.e. gluten-free bread.
Plenty of room in the restaurant to eat together as a big group
Every day there is optional evening entertainment (all included). This evening’s entertainment was themed ‘black and fluro’… I was quite tentative, not knowing what to expect. On the stage appeared some familiar faces (G.O's!) dressed in fluorescent clothing with luminesce face paints. The performance was enjoyed by people of all ages. It was obvious that a lot of effort goes into the choreography, outfits and backdrops. And it turned out to be great fun!!
One of the after-dinner shows - each night has a different theme
On Saturday we were up bright and early for our buffet breakfast – it really does include anything you could wish for! We ate our fair share of carbs to get us ready for another day on the slopes.
The snow was superb quality even at the end of April – obviously the higher up the better – and we were very lucky to be blessed with such good weather. Although our accommodation felt nicely-busy, the slopes didn’t feel busy at all! There were no queues for the lifts, and the pistes felt like they were yours.
Virtually no queues for the ski lifts in April!
“The temperature up there wasn’t as cold as January/February – so no red noses!” Marine, Peak Retreats team.
We were with ESF instructors and I could not rate them highly enough (also all-inclusive). The instructors were very good at helping to build confidence with the beginners, while the intermediates took advantage of the all-inclusive ski guiding with an ESF instructor.
The weather was perfect for skiing (or para-gliding)!
“I really appreciated the ESF instructor’s patience, allowing me in the group for the last class of the season and giving me the confidence to go back on the slopes.” Marie-Sophie, Peak Retreats team.
Overall it was a fantastic experience seeing how Club Med look after their clients.
“It was a brilliant atmosphere, fab sunny terrace all day long, and an amazing choice of quality food and drinks all day long!” Nathalie, Peak Retreats Director.
