  Travelling to the Alps

All our winter ski packages now include Eurotunnel with FREE FlexiPlus upgrade giving you not only the complete flexibility to travel on the next available departure (whenever you turn-up) but also dedicated Check-In lane, priority boarding and use of the dedicated lounge facilities with complimentary facilities (cars below 1.85m high only). Some supplements for peak dates apply. See details here.

For those who prefer a leisurely ferry crossing we can offer great reductions and no peak date supplements with SeaFrance and P&O on Dover-Calais. Please enquire for details.

For those travelling from Scotland or the North of England, we can book P&O Hull-Zeebrugge/Rotterdam. Save miles in the UK and arrive first thing in the morning fresh and ready for your journey in either Zeebrugge or Rotterdam. Zeebrugge to the Alps is roughly the same distance as Calais whilst Rotterdam adds about 70 miles.

Brittany Ferries and its overnight crossing from Portsmouth to Caen is another great alternative allowing you to arrive first thing in the morning in France fresh and ready for your journey. The drive is then roughly the same distance as Calais.

For those who prefer to fly our advice is to book as early as possible, especially for busy dates such as Christmas, New Year, February half-term and Easter.

For February half-term British Airways' lowest fares for Gatwick/Heathrow to Geneva are about £140 at the moment whilst charters from Gatwick to Geneva are already about £270 inclusive of all taxes and charges. For the likes of Easyjet (prices not released yet) it is essential to book within hours of the fares being released in order to get a good deal - the next day is often too late already. Easyjet's winter fares probably won't be available until July-August but it's best to check with the airline.

As booking direct with the respective airlines will always save you money on the cost of flights included in holiday packages we let you organise this independently.

We can book competitive car hire or great value private transfers from Geneva and other airports. Click here for details.

  Tour de France 2007

The famous Tour de France   is starting in London this year so interest in the UK will be greater than ever. But instead of joining the crowds in the UK why not see the race when it starts for real during the gruelling Alpine mountain sections in the French Alps and combine with an Alpine summer holiday.

Two of the stages on 15 and 17 July, pass close to or through resorts featured by Peak Retreats so it will be possible to view the race from a variety of vantage points while keen amateurs will even be able to cycle to and from their holiday accommodation!  And after watching the Tour, enjoy a variety of Alpine activities including white water rafting, canoeing, climbing, paragliding, golf and of course mountain cycling.

Stage 8 on Sunday 15 July starts in Le Grand Bornand and finishes in the resort of Tignes, crossing over the Col du Marais and the Col de Tamie en route.  Stay with Peak Retreats in Les Saisies, Notre-Dame de Bellecombe   or Sainte-Foy Tarentaise, just a short drive from the last part of the stage at Tignes. In Sainte Foy, luxury 4 star MGM apartments in 5 traditional style chalets have shared use of heated indoor pool and cost from £454 for 6 (£76pp) for the week starting 14 July.

Stage 9 on Tuesday 17 July - after a rest day, the 100 mile stage 9 finishes in Europe’s highest town Briançon, near the Peak Retreats featured resort of Serre-Chevalier while en route the Tour will zip through other featured resorts of Val Cenis and Valloire and close to Aussois, La Norma   and Valfrejus.  Valloire, at the foot of the Galibier Pass, is a traditional village built around a 17thc Baroque style church – stay in the 4 star Chalets du Galibier with indoor pool – from £384 for 4 (£96pp) for week from 14 July.
