Grand Massif - Les Carroz d'Araches

Les Carroz is a spacious, sunny, family resort with pavement cafés and interesting little shops centred around a main square. Les Carroz has a pleasant 'lived-in' feel and has been popular with French families since the mid 1930s for its superb children facilities, including a children’s club, and a baby-club. In Les Carroz there is a swimming pool complex with 3 pools, paddling pool, water slides, bouncy castle, volley ball, trampoline, restaurant and bar, surrounded by a large expanse of green lawn. The 18 hole Golf course boasts fantastic views, open every day in July and August, and at weekends in other months. Other golfing challenges in the area include an 18 hole course at Les Gets, a 9 hole course at Avoriaz, and a practice range at Samoëns with a driving range over water and a putting green.

Les Carroz is well provided for with shops, post office, library, medical centre, pharmacy, tennis courts, archery, mini-golf cinema, art galleries, museums, and ping-pong! The gondola in Les Carroz is also available to take you up to the fabulous scenery, leaving you to descend at your leisure. The Tourist Information Office in Les Carroz keeps a wealth of informative literature and will help keep visitors entertained during their stay. Les Carroz is one of the most accessible resorts in the Alps with very easy access from the motorway, train station or Geneva airport.

Mountain biking

Les Carroz takes pride in offering excellent facilities for all cycling sports. Our telecabine will carry you and your mountain bike to the top so you can race down the grassy slopes – you can hire road bikes – and “BDD” are specially designed bikes with fat wheels and disc brakes…

Cycling Routes

Climb a mountain pass!  Many a cycling enthusiast, following in the path of Tour de France “pros”, has attempted to climb these legendary passes!  The latest to join the list of twenty or so “notable hill climbs” is Les Carroz’s Pierre Carrée pass!  From now, the “Balme - Les Carroz - Col de Pierre Carrée” climb is lined with GSM beacons and kilometre markers to indicate the average gradient, maximum percentage incline and distance.  Microchips are on sale from the Tourist Office.

Sports centre

"Le Serveray" Sports Centre offers a pool, tennis courts, a skate park, a brand new fitness and exercise circuit, a beach volley ground etc.

The pool temperature is maintained to 26° whatever the weather conditions! The Sports Centre welcomes you from 10:30 am to 7pm everyday from mid-June to beginning of September.

A heated pool complex: 3 pools, slides, paddling pool, large lawns. Beach volley ball, ATB trail, skateboard area, 5 tennis courts, 1 short tennis court, club house, multi purpose hall fitted out for cultural and sporting events

By Road: Driving distance from Calais to Les Carroz 539 miles (approx 7hrs30)

From Calais, take A26 Motorway towards Reims and Troyes, then Dijon, Mâcon then ‘Autoroute Blanche’ Motorway (A40 Mâcon – Cluses) exit Cluses Centre (no 19), follow N205 road towards Sallanches. After 3 km follow signs to ‘Les Carroz d’Araches’ and turn left towards Les Carroz on the D6 road. Beware! No petrol station in the resort! The nearest is the BP station on the N205 near the motorway exit 12km from les Carroz

By Rail: Cluses 20km

Getting around the resort – summer shuttle

To get easily to the walks departures, to the telecabine or to the pool, a free shuttle bus runs every day except on Saturdays.

A free shuttle bus runs in the village towards Col de Pierre Carrée or Agy. For all including bikers and hikers.From Mid-July to Mid-August.

Car parks

Car parks are free! In the village 340 free spaces

Télécabine: 550 spaces + spaces for motorhomes with services from beginning of July to end of August ONLY. Free.
