Les Chalets de la Meije
Les Chalets de la Meije is a small complex of
18 luxurious chalets built in 1999 around a
central 'Club House'. In the heart of La Grave,
Les Chalets de la Meije offers the opportunity
to sample French village life, with only a
short walk to the few shops, bars and
restaurants but do not expect a busy nightlife!
The cable-car, which will take you to the top
of one of the world's most amazing ski areas,
is also only a short 150m walk away.
In incomparable landscape, and literally at the
foot of 'La Meije' (3983m), all the
south-facing chalets enjoy some breathtaking
views of the majestic summit.
With the extra services of a hotel, the central
Club House offers an inviting place in which to
relax after a busy day's extreme skiing. The
friendly bar has plenty of comfortable seating.
The leisure area and its fitness room, sauna
and Jacuzzi will allow you to relax with a
glass of champagne and enjoy the magnificent
panoramic views. (The two outdoor swimming
pools don't generally open until May).
This well-built complex offers very flexible
accommodation with the opportunity to choose
from whole detached chalets (two storeys plus
mezzanine), apartment suites (chalet ground
floor), double bedroom or double bedroom with
extra mezzanine (upstairs of chalet). All
chalets have a main entrance and then a
separate door to the downstairs and stairs with
separate door to the upstairs so that you can
benefit from total privacy if required.
The chalets at Les Chalets de la Meije have a
particularly comfortable interior with each
bedroom having its own stylish en-suite
bathroom and wc. They are modern in all
essential respects but with touches of country
character. The temperature in each chalet can
even be programmed and checked by a central
computer located in the reception area! Not all
chalets are identical but there are many common
features.

Entrance at back or through French doors at the
front.
Dual aspect lounge/dining area with open fire
and sofa bed, kitchenette. Small terrace at the
front with panoramic views of La Meije. Solid
wooden sliding door to double bedroom with its
own en-suite bathroom, separate wc.
Stairway to upstairs where there's a landing
with two private doors. An impressive double
height double bedroom overlooked, in some
chalets, by a mezzanine level with two single
beds (very steep stairs) plus balcony. En-suite
bathroom and separate wc. Bedroom with two
singles, en-suite bathroom and separate wc.
Waking up in the morning, you open the shutters
and so stunning are the south-facing views that
they literally take your breath away.
TV in lounge and in each bedroom. Telephone in
each bedroom.
Fully equipped kitchen with fridge, mini fan
oven, 4 electric hobs, dishwasher, microwave,
coffee machine. All bathrooms have hairdryer.
There is plenty of storage space.
Hotel formula - Double bedroom sleeps 2
sometimes with extra mezzanine sleeping an
extra 2, also apartment suite sleeping 2-4. See
above description.
Undercover parking (c €7/night) and also
free outdoor parking. Ski room with individual
lockers. Access to the sauna and jacuzzi area c
€9/hour (c €45/week). Bed linen is
included. Daily cleaning and change of towels
included depending on formula. Wood for the
open fire included. Breakfast (in the Club
House) is either included or can be taken at a
supplement of c €7.5. Dinner, when
included, is at an excellent local specialities
restaurant, about 200m away from the hotel.
Local tourist tax c€0.50/pers/day.

Snowlegend, you can book 1 to 5 days of
off-piste guiding. Prices are from c €70
for one day to c €310 for 5 days and
include equipment hire but not ski pass.
