The bustlingresort of Les Deux Alpes has a varied après ski scene which caters for all ages with various inviting bars and clubs.

Helicopter ski outing to Alpe d’Huez

Alpe d’Huez (Grandes Rousses – Vaujany/Oz ski area) is another popular large high altitude ski area. Although it’s only around 5km from Les 2 Alpes the drive actually takes about an hour due to the windy valley roads going up and down the mountains. Skiers can treat themselves to a helicopter transfer between the two resorts and enjoy a day of skiing on another world-class ski area.

Departs 09.00 on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays – leaves back from Alpe d’Huez at 16.00. One full day access to Alpe d’Huez ski area is already included in the 6 day Les Deux Alpes pass pre-booked with Peak Retreats.

Cost is £69 return per person – to be booked in advance via PR (can be weather dependant).

This is NOT heli-skiing; the drop off point is at Altiport in Alpe d’Huez – which is just off the main slopes).

By Road: Driving distance from Calais to Les Deux Alpes 587 miles (approx 8hrs25). From Calais, take A26 Motorway towards Reims and Troyes, then Dijon, Lyon, A480 Motorway to Grenoble. Exit at no. 8 (Briancon, Vizelle, Stations de l’Oisans), then take the RN91 towards Briancon via Le Bourg d’Oisans. As you come out of the tunnel at the Le Chambon dam, turn right onto the D213.

A Free shuttle bus service runs in winter from 8am-8pm in Les 2 Alpes.

The ski area is well suited to all standards of skiers/boarders and most are above treeline.

Beginners will enjoy the magnificent views from the top of the glacier with wide easy runs or the nursery slopes beside the village. There are 7 lifts free for all on the lower slopes of Les Deux Alpes.

Intermediates are well catered for with a good array of blues and reds.

The top Glacier du Mont de Lans area has some easy slopes with nice views. You can go from the top down to Mont de Lans (a descent of 2270m vertical, possibly worlds biggest on-piste vertical).

The extensive off-piste terrain is huge (5 different domains) and challenging. There is a good selection of serious routes with vertical drops.

For the more adventurous, an outing to the slopes of La Grave is a must (guide necessary). 2 Alpes is reached by snowcat from the top of the ski area to the 3568m Dome de la Lauze or a short walk.

Les Deux Alpes snowboarding – Les 2 Alpes also ranks amongst France’s best for snowboarding. At mid-mountain, there are two boarder-cross courses and a big terrain-park including half-pipe and higher up there are several innovative terrain features such as ledges, gullies, canyons, all of competition standard.

A new fast 6-seater has replaced older chairlift below Tete Moute. The Pied Moutet ski area has been vastly improved with a fast new 4-seater chairlift for skiing in Les Deux Alpes. However there is no chairlink lift from Bons from winter 09/10.

The European Ski School is an independent ski school. Its name has become synonymous with a quality product. With a carefully selected team of national ski instructors from Italy, France, Britain and Austria, their aim is to provide a fun and effective way to improve your skiing.  All the non-British instructors speak great English, and the team is comprised of experts passionate about skiing.  All groups will benefit from video analysis (weather permitting).  All clients will receive progress reports and all children will receive a certificate and a medal.

Please note that a booking fee of £9 per party will be charged.

During high seasons, lessons times may be moved forward 1 hour too ensure maximum skiing time, avoiding to much queuing.

Linked to Les Deux Alpes by cable car, the Valley of Veneon (Venosc) is an untouched natural area with 3 marked tracks from 3km to 24km.

Les Deux Alpes Free-riding

There are numerous spots where free-riding is possible including the famous Vallons de la Meije with its 2150m of variations in altitude and as you can imagine scenery to match!

Every week from January to end of April there will be free-ride talks, safety sessions and a free free-riding try-out with a guide.

Les Deux Alpes Freestyle

Slide zones – between 2600m and 3200m: canyons, cornices, cascades…also a SNOWPARK shaped by pros: half-pipe, axe-pipe, big air, slope style, hand rail, 3 “Park Bullies”, 1 free cross and 2 boardercross. The terrain park is located in the Toura run and is easily one of the top parks in Europe and it’s not just for experts. Beginners have areas to try their skills on. The park is 800m long and has an impressive super-pipe. DJs regularly play music and there is a BBQ & chill out area.
