Oisans - Venosc

Enjoy long treks, easy walks, mountaineering and rock climbing in the heart of the Ecrins National Park. Enjoy some sunbathing by the outdoor pool and cool down sliding down the waterslides. In Les Deux Alpes there is a swimming pool, artificial skating rink, tennis courts, a 9-hole golf course, mini golf, 2 summer luge runs, a trampoline area, a climbing wall, 2 archery fields, a sports centre, and a riding centre, plus clubs to entertain children from 6 months to 16 years old. Les Deux Alpes is also home to Summer Skiing. You can get to Les Deux Alpes by gondola as well as car.

Places of interest

      Adventure Park: For adults and children, with monkey bridges, rope ladders, barrels and bungee jumping.

      Grotte de Glace: Several caves dug through thick ice, are decorated with ice sculptures. Non skiers can reach the Dome de Lauze by tracked mini bus. This excursion, known as Croisière Blanche is a unique experience in a high mountain environment (Les 2 Alpes).

      Belvedere de la Croix: From the cross standing on top of a grassy knoll situated behind the UCPA chalet in Venosc, one looks down a sheer drop to the bottom of the Vénéon Valley. The Roche de la Muzelle, with its characteristic suspended glacier, towers above the whole landscape

Via Ferrata - VIA FERRATA DES PERRONS from Venosc to Deux Alpes... Height: 500 m...

Time: 45mn by foot to go to the departure of the via, 2 hours to go up and 30mn from the top of the via ferrata to the departure of Venosc gondola.( 10mn to go down by the gondola or 1 hour by foot).

Difficulty: this via ferrata is long by relatively easy.

VIA FERRATA DE ST CHRISTOPHE EN 0ISANS from 8 km from Venosc

2 parts for this via ferrata overhanging the Veneon River.

First part: Departure from Plan du Lac (1200m) Arrival to Banchet (1400m). Length: 2h30.

Second part: Departure from Banchet (1400m) to Collet (1544m).

Mountain biking - 25 km from Venosc to Bourg d'Oisans near the Veneon River. For good bikers, there is also a piste from Deux Alpes ski resort and Venosc village.

Hiking

Enjoy many renowned hiking routes through Venosc and surrounding areas.

Muzelles waterfall (30min by foot)

From tourist office, join the donkey farm below the car park. Cross over the bridge and turn left. After adventure park continue until the sign ‘refuge de la Muzelle’. Continue to walk 10-15mins and take little path which goes on the left. There is no sign for the waterfall so don’t miss the path on the left.

Les Cristallieres (30mins by foot)

From the tourist office, cross over Venosc craft village and join the hamlet called ‘La Ville’ up the church then the hamlet ‘Le Collet’. Use the old road until the first hook. This places offers a panoramic view if the surroundings.

Difficult hikings (not suitable for dogs)

Join the lac et refuge de la Muzelle (4 hours by foot)

Difference of level 1190m

From tourist office, join the donkey farm below the car park. Cross over the bridge and turn left. After adventure park continue straight away until the sign ‘lac et refuge de la Muzelle’. Use the cobbled stone path which goes up to the lake into the woods. Breathtaking views at 2115m…

To go to LES DEUX ALPES by foot (1hr30 to up and 1hr to come back)

Difference of level 700m

Go into Venosc craft village. Join the hamlet called ‘La Ville’ up the church. After the small fountain, continue until the end of the hamlet and follow the path which joins the chapel called ‘Chapelle du Calvaire’. Continue until ‘La Tete du Fartail’ where you can see the ruins of the old slate quarry. The path continues to Les 2 Alpes.

By Road: Driving distance from Calais to Venosc will be 587 miles (approx 8hrs25). From Calais, take A26 Motorway towards Reims and Troyes, then Dijon, Lyon, A480 Motorway to Grenoble, exit no8 (Stations de l’Oisans), then N91 road to Briançon via Bourg d’Oisans. Venosc is 12km from Bourg d’Oisans.
