Saint Jean Montclar is a
mountain village situated in the southern section of
the Alps, in the district of the Alpes de Haute
Provence, near the Serre-Ponçon lake. A
two-hour drive from the Mediterranean coast brings
you to St Jean Montclar. It is set amidst an
undulating landscape below the Dormillouse Mountain
with a forest of evergreen and deciduous
trees.

secured recognition and was awarded the Station Verte
de Vacances and Ski France labels, thanks to its pure
freshair, its mountain spring water, its exceptional
weather conditions, its many lakes including
Serre-Ponçon and a fair range of shops. Such

Chaple at La Salette
- it stands
on the site where the village of Montclar was
originally built. The clock tower was built there in
the 19th century so that its can be heard over the
entire territory of Montclar.

Hiking
- if you are not overly
keen on long-distance, you can start the hike from an
altitude of 2000 metres using the

along the river Blanche or the Ubaye. Excursions can
also be organized for a specific group on
request.

Mountain bike rental and guided rides - open 9.00 – 12.00

offer mountain bike equipment rental, and all-level

Sporting and social activities- during school holidays
sessions, a welcome drink is offered every Saturday
at 18.30.

- For adults: foot
excursions; mountain-bike rides: parties and themed
evenings.
- For little kids –
Pitchouns – with the Club Gavroche and Les
Petits Loups, the local kindergarten and
nursery.
The Serre-Ponçon Lake-
eight minutes drive from
the resort.
You can enjoy all the
water sports activities there : bathing, swimming,
boating or basking on the shaded shore, located on
the commune of Saint-Vincent-les-Forts. Seaside
facilities in a mountain setting.
Library - open the year round.
Opening hours: Mondays 16.00 – 17.00 and
Saturdays 10.00 – 11.00, except during school
holidays – summer: Mondays and Fridays 16.30
– 18.00 and Wednesdays 10.00 -11.00. In the
communal building, free entrance.
Books can be read inside
or borrowed.

Fishing - from second Sunday in
March to third Sunday in December (for class 1), you
can go fishing in the rivers flowing down our
valleys, especially the river Blanche or the
Ubaye.
