Les Carroz ski resort has been popular with French families since the mid 1930s and holds the ‘Famille Plus Montagne’ label for its superb children facilities.

Situated 5 minutes from Les Carroz village, the club offers a wide range of activities to children, during the day. Please note that the club works with both skiing schools. The club has its own minibus, which takes the children to and from their skiing lessons.

Tariffs 11/12: Full Day: €31 (including meal and snack). Half day €17 (no meal), 5 day pass (Mon-Fri):  €124, 6 days: €155.

There are a limited number of places: 40 children.                                          

Good English is spoken by at least two members of the staff anytime.

In order to book the club for your children, please send a letter direct to the creche with the subscription form, a copy of vaccinations, the dates of your stay and a 28.50€ pre-payment cheque.

The club is open from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm from Monday to Friday and from Monday to Sunday during French school holidays. Weekend bookings are compulsory!

- Morning welcome: from 8:30 to 9:30 am
- Half-day morning departure time: from 11:30am to 12:noon.
- Afternoon welcome: from 1:30 to 2:pm
- Half-day afternoon departure time: from 5: to 6:30 pm

The club offers various indoor and outdoor activities: snow games, sports games, entertainment and activities organised by the Tourist Office.
They organise the transfers to and from ski lessons of both Les Carroz ski schools as follows:

- morning ski lessons: Ski schools' meeting with parents, the club organise transfer, meal and afternoon activities

- afternoon ski lessons: Ski schools' meeting with the club, parents pick their child up after the ski lessons.

To avoid your child staying wet all day, please, leave a bag with clothes and shoes (Shoes, socks, underwear, trousers, tee-shirt, sweater, gloves and hat...)

By Road: Driving distance from Calais to Les Carroz 539 miles (approx 7hrs 30) from Calais, take A26 Motorway towards Reims and Troyes, then Dijon, Mâcon then ‘Autoroute Blanche’ Motorway ( A40 Mâcon – Cluses)  exit Cluses Centre (no 19), follow N205 road towards Sallanches. After 3 km follow signs to ‘Les Carroz d’Araches’ and turn left towards Les Carroz on the D6 road.

By Rail: Direct TGV to Paris/Cluses at weekends. Takes 5 hours. Bus between Cluses and Les Carroz. Alpbus – 00 33 450 03 70 09.

Getting around Les Carroz

Car parks

There are 1250 free car parking spaces for you to use at the bottom of the pistes…

a. Telecabine departure Les Carroz parking – 550 spaces

b. Les Molliets sector (5km from village towards Flaine, 10 mins) – 700 spaces (there is a chairlift at Les Molliets)

There is also parking in the village (270 spaces).

Shuttle buses around Les Carroz ski resort

To get to the lifts, to the ski school or to go shopping, the shuttle buses are free and run every day from 8:30 am. There is always a bus stop near your accommodation. 7 days per week. Runs from 17/12/11.

Line B – Saint Sigismond – La Frasses – Araches – Le Lays – Telecabine

SKI AREA

Grand Massif offers a variety of pistes for all levels from complete beginners through to experts wanting to seek off-piste potential. The slopes are relatively snowsure within the Grand Massif domain with slopes reaching around 2500m and being mostly north-facing. It is also one of the nearest major ski resorts to Geneva Airport.

Back from Flaine, Les Carroz ski runs are short but offer a wide variety of trails, including more difficult sections at the top of the red runs and some good off-piste. There are some excellent woodland runs just above Les Carroz accessed via a gondola so great on bad weather days.

The ski school’s torch-lit descent is not to be missed – it starts off with fireworks and ends with vin chaud and live jazz in the square.

BEGINNERS

Beginners will find nursery slopes and drag lifts in Les Carroz village to practise on. There is a green run at the top of the Kedeuse gondola ‘Mollachets’ and lots of blue runs to progress on.

INTERMEDIATES

Intermediates will find a variety of runs to improve and progress on with plenty of blues and reds to choose from, quite a few are tree-lined. The Grand Massif itself has extensive intermediate slopes with big lift networks.

EXPERTS

Experts will find challenging red runs and a few black runs can be found above Les Carroz ski area. Otherwise Flaine has some seriously challenging terrain (mostly off-piste though).

Skiing back to Les Carroz village

To ski back to Les Carroz resort, there are a series of blue runs to the right of the Kedeuse gondola & Moulins chairlift, primarily the ‘Combe’ run. There is also another blue run to the left of Les Carroz ‘Sarbotte’ and a red run ‘Timalets- running down to the left corner of the resort.

There is ample parking by the gondola departure. It takes 6 minutes to reach heart of the Grand Massif ski area from Les Carroz on the 8 seater Kédeuse gondola.

Please note that lesson times are subject to change right until the last minute. Outside French school holidays the ski school reserves the right to cancel group lessons should numbers be insufficient. For peak periods (18/12-2/1, 13/2-13/3 & 9/4-24/4) we strongly recommend that you book as early as possible and in any case at least 6 weeks prior to the required dates. Morning lessons tend to get booked up first and therefore we may only be able to offer afternoon classes within 6 weeks of departure. In some resorts English speaking instructors may not always be available, particularly at peak times.

Les Carroz Individual Tuitions

Private lessons can be arranged through Les Carroz ESF from €74-79 per 2 hours session from 1-3 people max.

Individual tuitions can only be purchased directly from the ski school. Peak Retreats cannot pre-book these.

Cross-country in Grand Massif

Grand Massif claims 64km/40 miles of cross country. There are extensive tracks between Morillon and Les Carroz with some tough uphill sections.

Free cross-country ski shuttle buses enable skiers to easily get to the Agy Nordic ski area from Sunday to Friday until March normally.  And from March access is to another area.

Night-time Skiing in Les Carroz

Night-time skiing once or twice a week.
FREE for those in possession of a valid pass bought in Les Carroz (half day, daily, 6 day, season, etc…), otherwise the tariff is 9.00€ per person.
Wednesdays and Thursdays in high season (from Dec to Early Jan and from Feb to Early March). Wednesdays in low season.

Terrain Parks in Grand Massif

JamPark Pro is in Flaine and is the main park. Has a quarter-pipe, tables, rails, a boardercross course and chill-out zone.

There is a tiny kids’ park in Samoens, a boardercross course in Les Carroz and another kids’ park, JamPark Kids, with a boardercross on the Morillon side.
