Skiing

From the foot of the new Vanoise Express double-decker cable car linking the two massive ski areas of La Plagne and Les Arcs (now called Paradiski), your biggest decision each day is which side to ski on!
Paradiski and its 425km of snowsure slopes provide an outstanding base for intermediate skiers and boarders who want high mileage cruising each day. For those who love relaxing skiing, the greatest concentration of blue and red runs is above Arc 1800 down to the villages of Peisey and Vallandry.
...more

For the more expert, the toughest descents are beneath Aiguille Rouge on both sides of the Olympic speed-skiing track. The latter is open to all thrill seekers (from 7 yrs) who want to have a go at the 160 mph record.

The dedicated children’s snow area “Pre Jeannot” is located at Plan Peisey. All complete beginners start at the bottom and then move up to a dedicated area at the top of the chair lift.

Stop Press - Vanoise Express Closure

December 21, 2007 – The Vanoise Express cable car that links the Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne ski areas will unfortunately not be in service this winter (07/08).

This decision follows a consultation between the operator and region's safety authorities, who today requested the suspension of the operation of this particular lift.

Anomalies in the cables of the two lines were detected and a more advanced diagnosis must be carried out, but repairs cannot be undertaken before the end of the season. Both La Plagne (225km of slopes) and Les Arcs (200km of slopes) are massive high altitude ski areas in their own rights and therefore this should have a relatively low impact on skiing potential.
