The Kandahar - An event in the whole
valley
Created in 1928, the Arlberg Kandahar was the
first international alpine event to combine
downhill and slalom. Since then, many great
champions have climbed onto the winners podium.

Mens event
The tour goes from four to six stages, taking
place in some of the most famous ski resorts in
the world. The two new stages are in St Moritz
in Switzerland and Fieberbrunn in Austria,
which fills the diaries of the world’s
best free-riders and snowboarders. Action and
excitement are guaranteed on some of the most
spectacular mountains on the planet during the
Freeride World Tour 2011.
The men’s events will start on January 22
in the Mecca of skiing, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.

19th
edition of the Piolets
d’Or
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, the world capital of
alpinism, will once again host this prestigious
celebration of mountaineering. After Walter
Bonatti in 2009 and Reinhold Messner in 2010,
the jury will award an esteemed alpinist with a
lifetime achievement award, as well as
recognising some of the most significant firsts
achieved on mountain ranges all over the
planet.
