Les Deux Alpes Snow Report – 2001-2011 (10 year average)

Les Deux Alpes has always benefited from a superb snow record thanks to the sheer altitude of its ski area and its massive glacier. Snow cover on at least parts of the ski area is always guaranteed from early December until late April. In fact you can still ski there on the glacier in August (see our Summer skiing section if this is of interest). Here is the snow record data for Les 2 Alpes. The first row shows the week for which the measurement applies eg. February 3 is the 3rd week in February. Top slopes shows the average snow cover in cm at the top of the ski area. Bottom Slopes shows the average snow cover in cm at the bottom of the ski area (this is generally where the nursery pistes are located although in Les Deux Alpes  there are nursery slopes at the very bottom, at intermediate level and on the glacier). About 10 cm is generally enough to ski but it very much depends on what’s below ie. grass or more rocky surface.
