What they did last year 10/11:

New Chavannes bubble lift (“The Chavannes bubble lift has had a total facelift for the winter of 2010/2011. Still sporting its historic red paint, the new 6-people bubbles (Diamond, built by Sigma) allow for speedier transit and less waiting time. Access to the cable car is easier, particularly for beginners as it is now all on one level thanks to the new station conceived by Poma. The total investment in the project is 4.5 million Euros” Tourist Office)

Regeneration of the Carry area (“The reconstruction of the new Chavannes bubble lift was only part of the complete regeneration of the snow-front area. The departure point of the Boule de Gomme draglift (the first ever automatic release draglift installed in France in 1936) will be slightly repositioned. This will be of major benefit, particularly for beginners, as it will be very easy to ski effortlessly from the ESF (Ski school) to the cable car thanks to the perfectly smooth ground. The upper ski slopes on Carry will also be remodelled to level out and widen the existing ski run” Tourist Office)

New Chamossiere chair lift (“The ski area has been hugely improved by a new lift in the Chamossiere ski area. Highly rated by experienced skiers, the black and red ski runs are now accessible by a new 6-man chair lift which replaces both the Blanchots draglift and the old 3-man Chamossiere chairlift. It now takes between 5 and 7 minutes to reach to summit, the link-point in the Les Get /Morzine ski area with the most breathtaking panoramic views of Mont Blanc” Tourist Office)

Deborah Anthonioz boarder-cross course (“It is now possible to snowboard down Mont- Chéry in the tracks of Déborah Anthonioz thanks to the newly built boarder-cross run. This was constructed on the advice of the silver-medal winning local Olympic champion (Vancouver’s 2010 winter Olympic games). Throughout the winter, sessions will be put in place on when you can snowboard down this boarder cross in the presence of Déborah” Tourist Office.)

Snowpark – “With its uninterrupted view of the breathtaking Mont Blanc mountain chain, the grandiose Mont Chéry massif, with its «Gliss District», is THE destination for new winter-sports enthusiasts. There you’ll find:

- the Freestyle District (tables, hip, handrails, etc.).

- the Jib District (handrails).

On the Les Chavannes slope:

- the Boarder Cross (series of banked turns and moguls) for all levels, with very frequent rotations thanks to the Mouille au Roi drag lift.

Check out the relooked snow-park website: www.snowpark-lesgets.com” Tourist Office

Now 3 runs instead of 2 reserved for toboggans – a new run at Chavannes for 4-6 year olds.

MAPPYS AREA

Les Gets has really come up trumps with the "Espace des Mappys” beginners’ ski area where tomorrow’s champions (of all generations!)

can learn to ski safely protected from faster more confident skiers. Easily accessible from the top of the Chavannes bubble lift, this beginners’ zone has been set up in a calm safe area just beside the classic ski fields. It has two gentle, moving carpets, a tow-rope and 4 gentle beginners’ ski-runs.

THE “GRAND CRY” AMERICAN INDIAN RESERVE, PARADISE FOR BUDDING YOUNG SKIERS

A real Red Indian village, with tipis, wild-west decor and a face-painting workshop. This little snowy paradise for children is Les Gets’ key

product for ages 5/12. It consists of ski-runs decorated with giant scene-setting cut-outs of totem poles, American Indians and wild animals. There’s a ski-run complete with loud-speaker system and a cowboys’ log-cabin full of skill-games and music. Every week during the season, there are drawing competitions, Red Indian stories told in Tipis, face-painting and treasure hunts.
