As Winter 2013/14 draws to a close, Peak Retreats are taking the opportunity to reflect and look back on the ski season. Overall the season was a great success and we continued to deliver memorable Alpine ski holidays to families, couples, groups and individuals.
In terms of snow, the season was a bit of a mixed bag with generally below average snowfall with some big dumps in the mix and of course, lots of sunny days. This made for some, on the whole, lovely conditions for our clients holidaying across the French Alps.
We like to keep a record of the views from lots of the resort webcams in order to look back over the season. Let's take a look at the view from the Montgenevre 'Front de Neige' or bottom of the slopes webcam. This webcam is situated at around 1850m and there was considerably more snow at altitude.
The resort was open from to 30/11/2013 to 26/04/2014. These shots were taken from before the start of the season in November through to the end of the season in April:
Plenty of pre-season snow cover - 22 November 2013
Great base cover by Christmas week - 21 December 2013
Heavy snowfall in early January - 4 January 2014
At the end of a sunny day on the slopes - 27 January 2014
The sun breaking through the morning cloud - 20 February 2014
The perfect day - 6 March 2014
Sun rising over spring skiers - 20 March 2014
Final weeks of opening and still with plenty of snow - 9 April 2014
Warm spring conditions and the snow is just starting to melt - 16 April 2014
Final days of opening and there are still skiers making the most of warm days on the slopes - 23 April 2014
And at the top of the slopes? Check out this shot taken at the top of the ski area from the Montgenevre 'Aigle' webcam on the resort's closing day on 26 April 2014 - heaven!
