The French Alps are no stranger when it comes to hosting the active, outdoor holiday. Not only throughout the winter but right the way through to the summer. During these warmer months the Alps become a mecca for road cyclists and mountain bikers, as well as a popular destination for those wishing to catch a slice of Le Tour De France.


With the increased popularity of cycling activities, many Alpine resorts have produced attractive summer programmes for 2015. Here is a little taster…

Le Tour de France

The annual multi-stage bicycle race, Le Tour De France, will be hitting the mountain roads this year in July 2015, passing through several resorts that are very near some of those offered through Peak Retreats:

Les Deux Alpes: Electric Mountain Biking

Les 2 Alpes and GIANT (the world’s largest bicycle manufacturer) have joined forces to create a new partnership working together on a range of projects and events. Electric mountain biking (E-mountain biking) is becoming increasingly popular, with a number of shops offering E- bike rental.

It makes the up easier, and the down just as enjoyable! Evening mountain bike excursions are also new for 2015 where you take the chairlift up to the Diable au Cœur restaurant and have an indulgent dinner amongst the mountain peaks.

Les Gets: New Bike School

The MTB School with the MCF accreditation (French Cycling Instructor) in Les Gets, is the perfect school for anyone and everyone passionate about mountain biking (families, experts or beginners). With a variety of courses available for large or small groups.This innovative school offers various original ideas, including interesting themed outings taking riders on new and beautiful circuits across the region.

Tignes & Val d'Isere: Bike Park

An easily accessible bike park with a trail for everyone. Including routes that also link through to the neighbouring resort of Val d'Isere. Open from June 27 to August 30, 2015. During this period Val d’Isere and Tignes will give you free access to the ski lifts for an easier route up to reach the downhill tracks.

Morzine: Mountain Scooters

Indiana adventures in Morzine introduce the 3T (an off-road scooter that is easy to ride). With a professional guide, you can head out onto the slopes. Taking the mountain lifts uphill and scooting your way back down. With only 4 people per group, you can ride at your own speed and your guide will make sure that all levels of rider are catered for.
